Oh boy, here we go.

a) This is the absolutely perfect call against this offensive play up until the point where the WR starts free running. The WR is running a drag and hits the end of his route immediately. He then does something I RARELY see, he makes the right decision and heads upfield instead of pulling his drag across the field. The SS surprisingly enough shadows the WR as he comes across the zone until "handing him off" to the LB. Except the LB is way out of position, he's actually out of his zone at this point. The BIGGEST problem here is since the WR is free running the LB doesn't even look at him when he runs by. He doesn't actually make a move to the WR until the WR has caught the ball. Now, the LB is a big bumbling oaf, but he could at least try to play his zone.

This play does a good job of highlighting how free running WRs break defenses.

Those safeties got to get deep and some version of "chucking" would still happen at the line by the cb . Why not have zone roll against route as well to slow recievers down ?
