How was Lesko a First round pick 3 years ago signed for that cheap and no bonus? I always get a message that says player won't sign without a bonus or there is a minimum amount in salary.

Believe the trading team still has to pay the bonus, so I get them both without having to pay their bonus.
Yes, when a trade happens the bonus is converted to dead cap for the trading team. The receiving team then has a contract with only base salary.

Ok, I understand that. But how was a round 1 second pick signed long term at a million per year? My TE Eberle [comparable player and comparable pick] was a 1-9 and when I resigned him I went the low ball route and kept getting messages about a minimum salary [ if I recall correctly were he signed is what the computer finally accepted] . I guess my question is I have never been able to resign a high pick long term for a million and change long term. I guess my next question would be should there be a cap on what a team can carry as dead cap or a heavy penalty for going over it?

$1 M base salary would be $3 M bonus, for a total of $4M per year.
I don't know the Ai rating for this player, which would determine his asking price (along with position/age), not his draft position.
Actually, looking at this player it appears his deal was:
6 years / $42.4 M, or roughly $7,071,288 per year.
