On the hot read issue, if it's causing more problems than it's solving should I remove it? I'll go ahead and remove it altogether for the next game and see how that works.
Not sure if you removed it for this week or not, but bring it back please if you did remove it. QB taking too many sacks and missing wide open WRs or underneath routes. In a league with such blitz heavy defensive schemes, that gives a little parity to the offenses. 14 total sacks this week in NYA v. MIA with good QBs on both teams. Just getting tired of heavy blitz defenses and my offense not capitalizing on it. There is no way that any team, at any level of football, can blitz heavy all game and not get burned for it.
GG Tecra,
I`m looking at this from a gameplan view.
NY air attack is one of the leagues best,we needed to get pressure on the QB to disrupt their pass attack to all the great WR`s they have.
We came up a bit short, but held NY to their lowest points score this season.
As it stands at the moment (and has been pretty much since I`ve played MFN) the only way to get ANY pressure on QB`s and so slow down the pass attack, is to blitz.
Man 2 Man and Zone Coverages on their own just don`t work,IMO.
If you give the QB a easy get out of jail card (Hot Read),pass offences will become unstopable.
It was a good game though Tecra, looking foward to the return in MIA.
Keep up the great work JDB.

GG Adder,
I don't disagree with several of your posts and thought it was a closely contested game. I don't expect any less when we play MIA. However, I think I have one of the better o-lines in MFN-1. If the blitz can over power them so effectively, I still think the hot read needs to be there.
I have the full 40 plays selected on offense. While my air attack is solid, I also do mix it up with the ground game (usually more than in this week's game). I think a heavy blitz defense using only several blitz plays should not be able to stop the entire passing offense. There needs to be an adjustment for that.

GG Carolina
Your team has been on fire lately, Just couldn't stop Hollinsworth today.
Getting back on track for this thread... ;) (Kidding, guys, kidding...)
GG, B'more!
Had to come 'all the way back' (only a 12-point deficit in the 2nd quarter, but hey... I'm Cleveland) in this one... And your drive right at the end was worrying me. Thankfully a well-timed INT sealed it.
The run game blew my defense apart... Nearly 2-100 yard rushers on your side of the ball. I had some yards on the ground as well, but what you did was a bit ridiculous. Heh.
The injury bug is starting to take its swings on me again, though. 2 serious injuries on the offensive side of the ball (my starting RB and RT) along with losing my starting LT and star DT... Actually playing for a playoff spot this late in the season, I'm a little bit worried if my bench can sustain success.
Good game Cleveland , You guys looked playoff bound. And we dident. Were coming down to the last stretch and need to finish strong and hopefully win out.

I'm wondering how much blitz is considered to much. Because after looking at my plays they are not the most successful in my playbook and I decided to post my last games defensive plays to get an idea. We incourage all teams to blitz all game if you play us.
Blitzing numbers 26 total plays called 61 total plays 2lb. Blitz - 5 plays called total of 15 total plays 1 LB Blitz- 8 plays called total of 18 total plays NO Blitz- 13 plays called total of 28 total plays
Times formation called ---- total plays Blitz13/26 , 33/61 No blitz 13/26 28/61
2LB blitz 15/61 plays 1LB blitz 18/61 plays 33/61 plays were blitzes = 55 percent No blitz 28/61 plays = 45.9 percent

I think it depends on what defense your running. If your running a 3-4 your prolly blitzing on most plays unless your rushing 3 and dropping everyone else back into coverage. A 4-3 or 46 is a whole different story.

Has anyone had success with a 3-4 in the new code? My 3-4 became the most useless defense because OL were blasting to the second level and engaging LBs before they could react. Since weight matters now in blocking, this meant that my LBs were useless in the running game. I finally pulled all of my 3 man front plays.
I understand that. I don't run 3-4 so I tend to forget that one blitzer in a 3-4 is considered a base defense.
Breakdown would be 14 plays - 4-3 (7 - 2LB blitz) (6 - 1 LB) 16 plays - 4-6 (4 - 2LB blitz) (8 - 1 LB) 10 plays - Nickel (3 - 2LB blitz) 15 plays - Dime (1 - 2LB blitz) (2 - 1LB) 6 plays - Quarter (2 - 1LB)

My HC and LBs Coach are Heavy Zone 4-3 guys, while my DC and D-Lines Coach are Pass Focused 4-3s. With that kind of playbook in mind, I play all-blitz with a mix of man and zone for the non-blitzers. My scheme is (IMHO) about 50/50 effective; there's a lot of penetration and pressure, but I tend to get beat behind what coverage remains.
Nice to see that I could take you guys down to the wire. My 2-minute rule worked without a major hitch, except I left too much time on the clock. Heh.
The passing game for my guys went completely away til that last drive (75 of 114 yards)... And this is a passing game that averages about 211 yards per game! Meanwhile the running game was right about where it should be. I'd wonder if adding the hot reads back in did something, but the only 3 hot reads for me noted were in that last drive.
Tennessee's pass game was frankly dominant, but looks about as dominant as it has been on average throughout the year... So my all-blitz defense seemed to make no difference (though 4 sacks and 7 pressures was nice). It -did- hold Tennessee's rushing yards to below their average, so I think blitzing was good, but I was getting beat over the top, so.
Still in the talk for playoffs, and a winning season record... Though I took more injury hits on my lines. Ugh.
