I just took a look at the numbers for 50 yd+ Field Goals in MFN-1 and was very surprised by what I saw.

Currently there have been 151 attempts with 123 successful kicks. This is an astounding 81.46% from over 50 yds!

In 2013 there were a total of 143 50+ yd FG attempts for the entire season with 96 kicks being made for a success rate of 67.1%.

in MFN-1 thru 8 weeks, we have an average of 18.9 50+ yd FG attempts per week with a 16 week total of 302 if the current rate holds. This seems like too many 50+ yd FG attempts.

In 2013 10 out of the 34 kickers who made a FG had long kicks of 55+ yds with 2 having a FG of over 60 yds. In MFN-1 thru 8 weeks we have 17 out of the 32 kickers with a long FG of 50+ yds including 3 over 60 yds. With 8 weeks to go that number may grow a bit higher.

Here are the MFN-2 numbers thru 11 weeks.

Currently there have been 242 attempts with 204 successful kicks. This is 84.30% from over 50 yds!

In MFN-2 thru 11 weeks, we have an average of 22 50+ yd FG attempts per week with a 16 week total of 352 if the current rate holds.

In MFN-2 thru 11 weeks we have 28 out of the 33 kickers with a long FG of 50+ yds including 5 over 60 yds.

Good info! I mentioned this and the other thread, I do plan to relook at long field-goals soon. At first lunch, field goals were far too inaccurate. I think they are too accurate now.

Just a quick note, I have an update in the cooker that should fix the abundance of long field goals, making it extremely unlikely (< 1% chance) for a 100-strength kicker to connect on a 65-yard field goal. I have it running on a test league to make sure there aren't any issues, and plan to roll it into beta after the season just so that this updated doesn't affect the playoffs here.

This seems to be working more realistic now from what I've seen.
Next could the multitude of quality P/K free agents get hit by the retire stick?
