Dudes my secondary is trash and I have a lot of aging vets on my team who are currently solid (nice spread of players who have solid ratings even compared to some of the teams that did well last season). But as the original poster pointed out no one is willing to trade for aging vets for draft picks…. SO I'm STUCK with these solid older players and that doesn't do me any good because my team isn't bad enough to get a top 10 draft pick (8-8, last year). Therefore, I figured I might was well try to make a run while I can with the current talent I have rather than be stuck in a cycle of mediocrity.
Furthermore, a draft pick 2 years from now in my view has to be discounted. In dynasty fantasy football league I thought a general rule of thumb is a draft pick in the future should be discounted by the number of years (i.e. 1st round draft pick in 2 years is worth a 3rd round draft pick today). And another point while I'm at it, I just did a draft in another league (MNF-8) were the draft talent was exceptionally weak (maybe 15 players with a future value > 80 and thats including O and D line).
Who knows but it will completely back fire but I'd rather go down in smokes than be stuck going .500 on a yearly basis…… just my two cents
