Jacksonville secured a decisive 34-15 victory over Indianapolis on November 7, extending its winning streak to two games in the 2077 regular season. With this win, Jacksonville improved to 6-3 overall and maintains first place in the division with a 2-2 conference record under head coach Jack Wolf.
The Jaguars elected to receive the opening kickoff and took control midway through the second quarter. Their first touchdown came on the ground when running back Christopher Tyson rushed 18 yards for a score to tie the game at 6-6. Thomas McFarland's extra point was good, giving Jacksonville a 7-6 lead. From there, quarterback Damian Barnett connected with Paul Hollis on a 12-yard touchdown pass before halftime, increasing the advantage to 14-6.
Indianapolis remained competitive early, with kicker Steven Levasseur successfully converting four field goals from distances of 54, 20, 21, and 49 yards, keeping the Colts in striking distance. However, Levasseur’s efforts were not enough to offset key mistakes, including an early fumble by Tyson recovered by Indianapolis, and six sacks allowed by the Colts' offense.
Jacksonville's offense exploded in the third quarter when Barnett found William Perkins on an 80-yard touchdown reception, highlighted by Perkins’ skillful maneuvering away from coverage. McFarland’s extra point pushed the lead to 21-9. Despite continued scoring attempts by Levasseur, who made two more field goals after the big play by Perkins, the Colts could not halt the Jaguars’ momentum.
In the fourth quarter, the Jaguars sealed the game with a two-point conversion following a touchdown pass from Barnett to tight end Paul Melville, extending the lead to 29-15. Christopher Tyson added a rushing touchdown in the fourth quarter, contributing to Jacksonville’s total of three rushing touchdowns.
Barnett led Jacksonville’s offense with 272 yards passing and three touchdown passes, adding two rushing yards. Tyson provided a strong ground game, rushing for 112 yards and scoring once receiving. William Perkins and Paul Hollis were the top recipients, with 95 and 59 receiving yards respectively. The Jaguars’ defense was effective, recording six sacks and limiting Indianapolis’ passing touchdowns to none.
Indianapolis quarterback David Woods completed 30 of 50 passes for 344 yards but was unable to convert any into touchdowns. The Colts managed five successful field goals but ultimately were thwarted by Jacksonville’s balanced offensive attack and defensive pressure.
Jacksonville was penalized twice for 13 yards while Indianapolis incurred one penalty for five yards. Neither team converted any third downs during the game, underscoring Jacksonville's ability to score efficiently when given opportunities.
This victory helps solidify Jacksonville’s standing atop the division as they look ahead to upcoming games. Indianapolis, now 3-6, remains in fourth place and faces renewed urgency in the next stages of the season.
