Buffalo secured a 14-10 victory over Miami in the opening week of the 2077 regular season, improving to 1-0 under head coach Robert Craven. Miami fell to 0-1 on the year, led by head coach Jesse Graham.

The game was decided by two field goals from Buffalo kicker Stephen Figaro, who converted all four attempts, including a pair of 47-yard kicks in the first half. Miami's Daniel Liller made one of two field goals, a 48-yarder in the second quarter, after missing a 60-yard attempt in the first.

Miami broke the scoring drought in the third quarter with a touchdown reception. Running back Jesse Pearson, who finished with 36 rushing yards and six receiving yards, scored on a seven-yard run. Liller added the extra point to give Miami a 10-6 lead.

Buffalo reclaimed the lead shortly after when their defense capitalized on a fumble by Miami receiver William McCall deep in Buffalo territory. Miami defensive back Danny Nolette recovered the fumble and returned it 32 yards to the Buffalo 7-yard line. This set up Buffalo's scoring opportunity that included a punting duel between both teams.

Miami's offense struggled to convert on third downs and did not register any touchdowns through the air despite 18 completions on 45 attempts for 129 yards. Miami's running game contributed 80 yards on 17 carries but failed to find the end zone beyond Pearson's score.

Defensively, Buffalo applied pressure with three sacks, including two from defensive tackle Patrick Baggett and one from middle linebacker Richard Garcia. Garcia also forced a fumble. Miami's defense forced one fumble and recovered two but recorded no sacks.

The special teams play was significant throughout. Buffalo's punter David Henderson consistently flipped field position with punts downfield, including a 56-yard punt in the third quarter. Miami's Brian Batista also showed strong leg power with several punts over 40 yards.

Miami had to manage injuries during the game, with receiver William McCall and Buffalo's Nathaniel Lawson bruised on the pivotal third-quarter fumble play but expected to return.

Penalties were similar for both teams, with Miami flagged four times for 23 yards and Buffalo four times for 30 yards. Neither team converted any third downs in the contest.

The loss places Miami third in the division standings early in the season, while Buffalo leads with their 1-0 record. Miami will seek to rebound in Week 2 when they aim to improve their division record and get into the win column.

The conservative styles of both teams were evident in the low score and costly turnovers. Miami will look to improve their red zone efficiency and reduce turnovers to generate more scoring opportunities moving forward.
