LDE/RDE

I was just wondering why the default settings give different weights to different abilities for the LDE and the RDE. I'm particularly curious about pass rush. Are the two positions really that different?

Frankly, I want my best pass rusher at LDE, going against the RT. The LT is usually the better pass blocker, so have the best pass rusher go against the worse pass blocker.

JDB has said that he is offensively oriented, and I don't think he is really that up on defensive concepts, as the game is very offensively oriented.

I guess my point is that the LT will be the best pass protector if people believe that he should be, but is there the equivalent of a QB blind side in the game? A real factor that makes LT and RDE more important?

You are correct, there is currently not a blind side effect but I did set the default scores as if there was one. This will be added, but is not currently there.

I don't know how this game works, but traditionally the TE would line up on the right, presumably to help the RT.

As JDB said, if you look at the default weights, you'll see the LT is the best pass blocker. I assume most people will either go with the defaults or use them as a sort of model. Therefore, the best pass blocker is normally LT, and the RT is usually more adept at run blocking than pass blocking... again, based on the defaults and generally the way people think about the game.

So, I put my best pass rusher at LDE, to go against the RT. If, during my lengthy scouting, I find that one tackle is much worse at pass blocking, I'll get my best pass rushing DE on that side.

Unless there is a handedness attribute in the game, I would prefer NOT to see a 'blind side' set up. Having handedness AND 'blind side' would be OK, because, again, it forces a team to actually scout and do research to be successful.
