So far this feels like a massive flop to me, the fact that you can't even control run/pass ratio means you have no way to get the AI to call the game to your strengths. It wouldn't be so bad if the short passing game were viable, or if running the ball were better.

Agree. I’m bored one preseason game in.

I don't mind it at all as a diversion, just draft and let nature take it's course.
Having said that I don't play the full version anywhere near as in depth as most on here.

That's sort of the idea. I don't see the same people playing in both types, I think if you enjoy one style the other will probably frustrate you. If you really enjoy the roster-building features but don't have the time to game plan, this gives you a chance to be on equal footing with everyone else in the league. Everyone has the same limitations with the AI (the AI -does- take your roster into consideration when building the game plan, just probably not to the extent that many players do when they build their own). If you enjoy the more complex experience, don't worry, it's not going away.

I play in both...the game plan leagues are definitely better for action junkies as the pacing and final scores in the roster-only leagues can be pretty pedestrian at times. I am very interested to see how the roster-only leagues adapt from season to season as owners catch on to how the AI calls games and start trying to alter rosters and coaching staffs to fit their perceived roster strengths.

I kill my time in the roster leagues by having fun making team blogs and running commentary for my squads. Considering how both my roster squads are doing, it might be time better spent learning how to do allocation drafts but who knows...
