[Update] Announcing version 0.4.5

I am excited to announce the release of 0.4.5! This is a much more iterative release, meaning there are not sweeping changes that should have a huge impact - instead, some minor tweaks have been added to improve the game experience.

So what has changed?

Here is the basic overview:

* Improved DB coverage, both in man-to-man and zone. The biggest addition is a restructuring of defensive holding and pass interference calls. If a DB is about to get burned by a WR, he can make a decision to hold, and if he is stealthy enough, he might upset the path of the WR without drawing a flag. You'll see some information in the play-by-play to indicate when this happens.
* DB knockdowns are finally increasing, and QBs are less likely to throw errant passes.
* Fixed the defensive holding bug where it would be declined on 4th down or a turnover.
* Fixed the 3-way tiebreaker bug.
* QBs are looking for downfield passes ahead of the dump-offs a bit more. This is an iterative tweak, more development in this area is coming but this should improve downfield passing without bringing it back into a place where you can blow up the score doing an all-long-pass game plan.

This will be rolled into all leagues as they complete their seasons, starting tonight.

Can we get private leagues updated by request again?

Yes, please PM me about any leagues you own. The regular leagues I won't roll over prematurely.

MFN-23 Is in early FA week 2, missed this update by a day. Could you possibly put us on the new engine for this season?

League 83 is in pre-season midweek 1, will it be updated at the end of this year or before the regular season starts?

Any info on what will make a dB stealthy? Intelligence, discipline, or something else?

either when 2028 season starts or you can get 50 percent of league to vote yes to having this version then JDB will move it over.

i think this answers your question

4) DBs with lots of B&R are maddening in coverage. - These guys will push low B&R WRs all over the field. B&R is finally the equalizer it was supposed to be in 0.4.3. The addition of defensive holding and defensive pass interference helps balance this out, but a good B&R DB with decent SP will wreck your game plan.

5) Defenders actually react to the ball in the air. - Defenders will peel off coverage when the ball is thrown, so this means go back and read my post on Passing Zones and Spacing if you don't want to get picked off constantly by hoard of defenders pouncing on your WR.
