Last season I took over a team in MFN27 that was in pretty grim cap trouble. Got through last season but was 56 million over the cap at the start of the new season. I cut about half the roster, traded away this years draft picks and signed loads of minimum contract players to 1 year deals to the point where for the Training Camp sim I had 47 players and was 208k under the cap so ready for the season (and ready to lose a lot obviously)..
The Pre Season Week 1 sim ran overnight and all of a sudden I've got 56 million (yes MILLION) in cap space !!

Anyone have any idea why this might have heppened ???

All I did overnight was cut three players and signed a couple more minimum 1 year deals, I had about 330 million in dead cap for this season, could that have triggered something ?

Total Cap: $351,031,289
Dead Cap: $263,273,466
Room under cap: $56,288,466

your saying this number was 208,000, and you cut three and signed one guy on that spin?

Cap used next year: $104,970,889
Dead cap next year: $84,499,696
Players under contract: 47
Future Draft Picks

maybe the cap numbers on the players card were slightly different than the the team home
page? Those 3 guys looked to open up at most 1.1 million so there should have been room to not go over, but there have been numerical discrepancies between the cards and the home page, and perhaps you were actually over the whole time ?

Right now you have roughly 350 mil in cap room , that puts your clearing of the cap at 14% . Not the 20% I think you get, but if a clearing of the dead cap took place that puts your current dead cap at 20% cleared which does fit the number I have heard tossed around.

I don't know what happened but if either of those two senerios took place I could see some sort of explanation within it. The first one is a display bug and the second is intentional to help cap strapped teams, but I don't know what exactly takes place to get a team under.

You have 47 contracts totaling around 30 mil and you said 330 mil in dead cap...that right there would have this year's cap 10 million above. That math doesn't seem to line up either, unless that was the reason the cap was cleared .

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
Yeah I'm certain the Room Under Cap figure was only 208k before the last spin, I even commented on it in the League Chat.

I just looked at some old screen grabs (which I don't know how to post here) and after the end of season spin my cap room was -58 million and I had 262 million in dead cap, after the first week of Free Agency when I started cutting players my cap room was -32 million and I had -282 million in dead cap, I didn't take any screen grabs after that.

If there's some sort of mechanism built in to clear dead cap to cap relief in such situations then all well and good, I didn't know there was.

Thanks again.

On the hard-cap sims, there is a cap relief if your dead cap exceeds a certain percentage of the overall cap. I don't recall offhand what it is, but it's there so you can at least fill your roster with scrubs if you have too much dead cap.
