Re: Break Tackles attribute

This is a real game breaker. I have watched running backs who weigh no more than 215 literally drag half of my defense down the field or break several tackles and happily accelerate away from the pursuing defenders. This attribute really needs to be dropped or assigned based on the players physical size. Many backs have over 90 in this attribute. This seems very unrealistic.

A better attribute might be something like 'Avoid Tackles". This would be tied to a players speed and dexterity. Break tackles should only come into play for huge running backs or possibly fullbacks.

What about backs like Emmitt Smith, or Ray Rice? They are small, but can definitely break tackles.

The break tackle logic takes both the attribute and the player's weight into account (as well as speed, angle of the tackle, whether there are other players on him, etc). It in itself is not the exclusive factor. A small player with a high break tackle attribute can be similar to a large player with a lower break tackle attribute. Strength and size also determine how much a player will drag his tacklers, but the break tackle attribute doesn't come into play there.

That is to say, it's not a simple comparison of the break tackle vs the tackling ability to decide whether the tackle is successful.

Does the game model tackling on a player-player collision basis, or are you using tackling zones (low, medium, high) to calculate the success of a tackle?

It is not using tackling zones, it's just player-player collision.
