Injured reserve

Its pre-season (game 3) and I have a pivotal player now out for 10 weeks, so he'll be back for 2nd half of the season, which will most likely be too late in this case.
Other scenarios are that you get a pivotal player go down in say week 5 and they're out for 10 weeks.
In both of these (and others) scenerios I would like to have the option of putting them on IR or even better a PS, which I know has been discussed ad infinitum

If they were on your practice squad, anyone else could sign them as if they were a FA.

I get that and wasn't suggesting that would be an option, of course if we did have a practice team, maybe it could, but no one would use it, so it would be a moot option.
This is a game based on the NFL and just out of pure enjoyment think this would be a good idea, thats all :)

Nfl rules would allow one player to be optioned a 1/2 season IR that allows the player to return mid season. I'd like that avialable here.

As for PS's, to me they are for farming young players. Seeing who has potenial to use on your team or trade for a better future pick. The Nfl allows players who played less than nine games in two seasons to practice on that squad. Its a small percentage of poolable players that fit the NFL criteria worth holding on to besides future value. I would enjoy some version of a PS.

To me I have a hard time cutting guys, being only able to trade thier value in the preseason. When a few weeks later when Injuries to other teams could increase value of young guy with potential. Futher promoting trades rather than saying they will available in FA anyway. I find a number of decent FA's that who are on the down swing. not with an upward trend. I would cut a better player now to ensure that upward trending player stays, but when its a few points holding on to a player only hurts his career.

A properly managed PS could get that guy playing somewhhere. It would make the game harder in terms of holding on to good young guys. Forcing teams to play the best players cause others will trade some talent to win now.

But really the benefit attained by most compared to the complication with explaining the NFL stlye PS's might turn players off as some can use it to thier advantage while newer owners might have a learning curve possibly furthing a gap of talent. But in a league of veteran owners who know the game a PS would be welcome. Well at least for me and Gus.

a practice squad would allow us to take players into the training camps to get gains without having to cut them to FA where they get no gains.

It allows the FA to have players that are 40/55 or 50/55 instead of 20/55. so yes our players could be poached but we will develop the FA as a co op.
