DT BS

In a game against Dallas my RB had a 42 yard run
IT would have been an easy td for him but magically
a DT chased him down
I looked at the DT's stats
and IT TURNS OUT THAT HE HAS A MAX SPEED OF 100
HOW DOES THAT EVEN WORK THAT GUY SHOUD BE A RB!
LIKE HOW COULD A 300 POUND GUY HAVE A SPEED OF 100!!!!!!!

If that back had better ball carry he would not have been caught. 100 speed players are fast in the right situation. The back most likely took a stamina hit breaking that tackle and bouncing it outside slightly lowering his values further. Really though a back with below 70 ball carry might not even get a shot in my run focused offense. Still a 300lb DT is hard to believe, but under the current code I see this play as acceptable.

Being my constructive self I see this as an issue with stamina. Big guys exhaust quicker than little guys. Its a science fact. As ATP is synthisized in the body of a player with more mass(especially muscle mass)they will use more of this ATP in which is in limited supply until the liver can detox your body of the lactic acid byproduct from this physiological process. In other words most DT's will be gassed after 40 yard sprint. He could do it in an isolated situation, but in the 3rd quarter of a game from where he started to give chase he'd most likely he be walking with the other linemen to conserve energy.

Keep in mind that 100 speed is still only relative to their body mass, so no, he shouldn't be an RB, 'cause while he may have 100 max speed, that's 100 max speed for a 300lb lineman as opposed to 100 max speed for a 200-230lb RB.

but the RB was like 15 yards in front of everyone and the DT basically magically appeared out of nowhere

I know speed/strength is,but I am assuming conditioning is not relative to mass or size or anything. DB's and WR's easily run 6 times the distance as a linemen in any given game. Lebron James is one of the few athletes that is so big yet runs so often and at or near top speed alot. It tough to be that well conditioned. Some of the NFL elites Rice or Sanders had unusual training programs that allowed them to be so good while others were left in the dust .

But most guys over 250 pounds generally will have a hard time playing at top speed all of the time.(muscle bound is a term thrown around the NFL) Because there large size uses so much energy to the point of complete bodily failure. A puking player is one of the first symtoms. Its why sprinters only run the 100 and 200 meters, maybe 400, but at that point of two minutes of spinting they pretty much maxed there liver out.

I have a 257lb LB who misses a tackle at the of scrimmage then runs down the back 30 yards later, alot. I'm not saying Condition or stamina is a problem. I just wish a game would reflect it the way I see it. But , really I don't even think Madden got that right either.
