Never seen this happen before: I have a WR that is in his 8th season, and during training camp he regressed 14 points. We all know 9th year guys always regress, but I don't ever recall seeing a player in their 8th year drop ..... especially 14 points!!!

He went from expected WR #1 to probably being cut. Totally counting on him for another season.

Cheese ball, bro.

I got caught with this a few times and it is right up there with the most unfair thing in the game.

Look at the player card. Experience: 8, age 30.

You can't have a fall off the cliff scenario and not have every player play the same way. Experience: 8, age 30 is the biggest joke in the game.

Unfair.

I guess the unfair nature is a cool wrinkle in the game - I mean stuff like that happens every season in the NFL. I was just totally surprised by 1) the regression starting in year 8 and 2) the steep decline - 14 points is a lot.

I would be even better with this occurrence if you would occasionally see WRs go into their 12th or 13th season before seeing a regression, as there are many real life examples of guys still being in their prime past 9 seasons.

Player ratings are based on each owners individual player weights...so while he may drop 14 for you...it could be 5 for another owner.

If you rate speed highly for any position in your custom weights then as players hit 30 and get slower....a drastic change is overall will happen.

The trick is to use older WRs with great receiving attributes (catch, B&R, M2M) but less speed in position to still make plays. There are plays where slower targets can still make receptions for specific receivers while some require speed as primary.

I have seen only 7 points drop in speed after years 8,9,10 and even 11th season. It’s super rare as I am speaking mainly DBs and WRs here. When in reality it’s as everyone says.... 4.6 has closed the gap of 0-100 speed and in consequence a 70 speed is almost as fast as a 90. Especially if you compare this code to older ones.

That 21 point drop in speed by playoffs year 9 is strong. Considering 40 times it’s like a 4.3 speedster suddenly being a 4.7. Where now he’s a 4.5 or whatever. Still manageable like Fred pointed out.

I had a TE I moved to C to play TE the latter half of his career . He retired after 15 years and never lost a point of speed. I think it was a glitch but 79 speed for ever! I kept him at C from year 8 and on.

There must be something in the code for Cs because they do not experience the same regression as other linemen (or in this case, TE). As long as you make the switch to C during the age 29 season, they can play for another 4-8 years with the same stats.
