1) aim for players that have high combined numbers in max speed, acceleration and strength when drafting. these are physical attributes that will not change even if your player busts in training camp
2) avoid drafting high volatility players in the first two rounds. more often than not, draft picks will bust as opposed to boom. players with high volatility might bust 16 but will only boom about 8.......just spitting out guesses on averages here i do not have comprehensive data....... if a player is already highly rated....lets say 85.....it is impossible for them to boom more than 15, but they can bust real hard....ive seen 30s before....the risk does not equal the reward. once you enter the 4th round start targeting high vol players......usually it is the only way that you will find a starter in those rounds
3) if you feel you have an urgent need at a position go ahead and trade picks for them. everyone wants picks and acquiring a sure thing is worth switching for a gamble. dont trade high picks for aging players though
4) search for good players who are not starting. often times owners will have a log jam at a particular position and would be happy to unload one of them. also, when proposing trades, find out what you think their team may need and try to help them out. best trades are win/win . check the team stats to see what they need. for example, if a team is ranked low in sacks, offer them a pass rusher. if a team is low in yards per carry, offer them run blocking or a running back with high yards per carry
5) search for teams that you feel may not do so well in the next couple seasons and try to trade for their picks....... kind of like a short sell......then you have a better chance to get a top 5 pick
6) if you draft a TE with 83+ max speed and then convert him to an RB they will reach max speed of about 88 or 89. your RB should have fast max speed....very important in this game
