I've lost sooo many games by not being able to control the logic in these situations.

I am pretty sure I have seen options where you can over-ride your gameplan for certain downs/distances... not sure about time left in game.

Edit: Yes, on gameplan page you can create rules. ;)

My read on your comment is that he should have thrown the ball away instead of try to run or take the sack - is that where you're thinking? You obviously were out of timeouts so you did run out of time since the clock didn't stop at the end of the play, and you did call a pass play, the QB just let himself get tackled without enough time to get lined up for another play.

Just yesterday Flacco took a sack on a 4th down; obviously he should have just spray and prayed it into coverage, but we are dealing with flawed humans reacting in microseconds. Mistakes happen. Earlier this season Eli Manning was in the reverse situation where he needed to run the clock out and didn't take the sack. I think these type of situations should (eventually) come down to player intelligence. An unintelligent (and/or inexperienced) player might accidentally go out of bounds when they needed to stay in to run the clock and vice versa. An unintelligent (and/or inexperienced) QB may take a sack where instead he might have forced it into coverage and vice versa.

What should have happened is that we'd have some end game/end of 2nd quarter logic that says 'clock is running' yes/no, out of timeouts yes/no (or number of timeouts). I would have used that to setup a QB spike to stop the clock and allow another play.

I'm just posting my frustration at a problem that we've had all along and that I believe you'll fix at some point. I posted this a few months back as well.

Ok, I'm with you - I didn't look at the play previous, you did take way too long to get to the next play. I'll make a tweak and release a patch for tonight's games. This is the case of the swinging pendulum trying to find its balance.
