The Future!!!
In the year 2500, after the Earth has survived an asteroid crashing into the Moon which altered its orbit around Earth.
The Earth suffered a series of volcanic eruptions and earthquakes along with Tsunamis which ravaged the land and altered the sea. Humankind was on the brink of extinction.
Mankind in its final hours had no more politics, laws or government but the void was replaced by "The Corporations" who helped mankind not only to survive, but to rebuild.
With governments gone along with laws and police, mankind resorted to violence to survive. Only the strongest lived long enough to reproduce as food, water and energy were scarce.
Eventually the strong began to rebuild a new type of civilization where might was always right and those who could take supplies...did...with force.
The Corporations built strongholds across the reshaped Earth and cities rose around them. As the strong who survived repopulated the Earth, gladiator style entertainment was sponsored by The Corporations. This gave the poor a chance to achieve in life and generation after generation fought to the death under the logo of the different Corporations. To flaunt their success, Corporations took on names which were focused on Death and Destruction.
After several hundreds of years, the Earth's population had a controlled growth, monitored by the Corporations which used different "Death Sports" to not only limit the world's population, but ensure only the strongest survived.
The Moons new orbit had changed gravity and effected all projectile weapons, making them almost impossible to use. While jumping and throwing became near impossible, the survivors became physically stronger, denser and more immune to physical damage. The "blood sports" featured ancient weapons like clubs and blades.
Hundreds of years of breeding only the survivors changed mankind as weakness in anyone's DNA was eradicated so disease like cancer along with small defects like near sightedness or being deaf or mute became a thing of the past.
Eventually, mankind reached a level of population growth where birth defects and flaws in DNA ended. The Corporations kept their gruesome names but the "Blood Sports" died out as mankind took its next step in civilization and evolution.
The world was run by the Corporations without laws except one...survival of the fittest! Only the strongest bloodlines had survived and behind the Corporations lead, mankind reached a near Utopian state. This Utopian state lasted approximately 112 years.
Utopia was beautiful and mankind thrived for a time before a malaise starting building across the globe. In a desperate attempt to rekindle what was lost...the Corporations started building massive domes in each city. These domes would hold over 150,000 people but it wasn't to restart the ancient "Blood Sports" of the past...it was to field Corporate Football teams which would compete in the newly formed, Death & Destruction League!!
32 teams full of near "super" men who would play football and compete for a Championship which would give the players wealth beyond imagination. This new "football" would be similar to the ancient game of football but the passing game would be limited due to the new Earth's gravity and running the football would become the staple of every offense.
Unlike the game of the past, these players would be genetically superior so injuries would be almost non-existent and the Corporations hoped this violent sport would put an end to the growing malaise and give the population new hope and new stars to follow and enjoy.
