Does injury affect gameplay?

So I need some help with what would otherwise be a no-brainer. My starting QB suffered a serious arm injury during the conference championship and is now listed as doubtful for the championship game. In RL, it's pretty easy to tell that if a QB's arm is injured, he's going to be protecting that delicate little cannon of his. But what about our game? It's the championship, so I'm not going to hold anything back, but I'm wondering if it would be a detriment to list my injured QB as first on my depth chart. If he can't play, then the coaches sub in the backup, no big deal. But if his actual play is hindered by his injury, then I don't want to start him.

From what JDB has said, injuries effect stats relevant to where the injury is. For example if it's an ankle injury that would effect a players ability to accelerate and run.

Injuries are attribute-specific in how they modify the player's ability - so if your WR has a pass-catching rating of 80 and an arm or hand injury, his rating will decline; if he has a leg injury, his pass-catching rating won't decline, but his speed and route running skills will.

You are correct that the modification is linear based on the degree of injury; however, it's not as extreme as your example. Each injury will compound with a maximum 25% reduction - so if your WR has a 90 on his hand injury, he will have about a 2% reduction in his pass catching skill. If he has 50 on both his hand and his arm, his pass catching skill will reduce by 14% for his hand injury (i.e. 86%) and then again 14% (or, another 86% off from the first 86%, taking it to 73%) so his 80 skill will actually operate as 59.

He will still be more accurate than your back up.

That's actually a tricky thing for a QB, given the fact we don't know if he's left or right handed and which arm is actually injured! Might be something that should be considered adding to the QB player cards at least.

I assume that an arm injury in this simulation would affect both arms. An update: I started the injured player who was listed as doubtful and he performed admirably, though I still lost my game. I'm certain he would have had a better game uninjured, but probably not enough to cover the ten point loss I suffered. But as a future reference to others wondering whether or not they should sit the guy out, I say don't. He still outperformed what I imagine my backup could have done.
