Re: Surprise Punter and Kicker!

Just had my first preseason game.

https://cust33.preview.myfootballnow.com/box/view/1336

My WR had 2 punts (quite funny, his stats were better than my punter lol). Also, my TE nailed an 18 yard FG!

Anyone know why this would be? Neither my kicker nor punter got injured according to the game log

since it's preseason it's probably because you have pull starters set in your gameplan settings, i see you currently have your P also at K2 and your K also at P2 but i'm not sure how the game engine does it whether it pulls a player only at their starting position or pulls them completely off the depth chart

Playing back ups was what I thought, but for me that option shouldn't apply to your punter and kicker, or you're going to be forced to carry two of each on a 60 man roster, which feels excessive to me

i don't really worry about it since i don't care if i win preseason games anyways. to me they are just a way to get position exp for my players, and see where i have problems in my team before the season starts

This is how the logic works for kickers and punters (and every other position has similar logic based on the expected minimum): If there is a K2 then your K1 will be benched with the starters. If there is a P2 then your P1 will be benched as well. The idea is to give you the ability to see two different kickers or punters in the preseason games if you want. So what happened in your case is that since there was a K2 your K1 was benched, but your K2 was also your P1 who was benched and your P2 was your K1 who was benched. Ideally you shouldn't set up your depth chart with that recursion :-)

Ah right, I set them up that way just in case one got injured and I wouldn't have to use a position play (ironically!), but I'll keep it in mind for preseason in future.

Or I'll keep it the same. Those punt starts from a receiver are awesome!!! :-D

Thanks for taking the time to respond though, appreciate it.
