Re: No SP Weighting System

So we've talked a lot about certain attributes on the boards like SP and how those attributes actually work and affect the game. Has anyone tried creating a weighting system that deemphasizes SP to the point that it's tertiary attribute at best?

I'm considering creating an experimental set of weights to do so for one of my leagues, but I'm wondering what positions would be most affected. I obviously could never set SP to say a weight of 10 for RBs because RBs with SP under say 80 are tackling dummies.

However, I could probably get away with weighting SP at 10 for WRs and DBs because at those positions SP is less important. QBs are so inaccurate throwing medium and deep passes right now if your opponent has a good pass rush that most people stick with a short passing game. This means that there is less chance for a DB to get burned deep on any given play.

Has anyone actually tried this? If so, how did it go?

---

Update: I'm trying an experimental set of weights across leagues that sets SP, AC, and ST to 1 for most positions. (Considering adding some other attributes to the 1 category as well.) The idea will be to have the overall of the player depict the overall of the player's core skills, and then use the eyeball test on SP and ST, etc. It's turning up some interesting results.

I have yes. Started mine a couple of weeks ago for the 73-74 allocation drafts.

I realize you 2 did this already but it goes without saying you could always try things out and if doesn't work out then you could always go back to the weights your team had.

Though you would have to save it then change your weights and save that one too then if it doesn't work the way you want it or it doesn't work for whatever reason then all you would have to do is load the saved weights that your team had before you messed with them.

I have something like 20 saved weighting systems right now because I haven't cleaned mine up recently. :)

Since I have no problems letting everyone know how crazy I am, here are my current weights. The one thing that I've noticed is that no matter your weighting system, elite players will continue to be elite. What this weighting system is doing is showing some nuance between players, but it's also showing how currently certain attributes like SP for a DE are way too overpowered. I have a DE in 2 with 20+ sacks who would be fourth on my depth chart if you just look at his improvable core skills:

75 - Look Off
50 - FoV
20 - INT, Arm, Release, Scramble
