Re: Noob Playbooks Question

Hi there,

Who drives what plays are afforded to a playbook on your O or D ? I have two teams with varying coaches (WCO & Possession) in both teams I'm seeing the same(ish) plays.

Leading to that question is the want to have a 4-5 WR set with one team, but I only have limited plays to do so.

Thanks in advance.

only the head coach dictates the playbooks on both sides of the ball :)

So if I have Team A as a "possesion offense" HC he, you would imagine, would have a lesser variety of 4-5 WR sets ?

My other teams HC is a WCO style, but is also limited to the same plays from 4-5 WR sets.

in my experience the playbooks are pretty similar. There's a few more runs or passes in each playbook but nothing too dramatic. I've used all of them across my teams and i seem to be able to have a similar attack with them

So, if I'm reading/listening to the tutorials correctly and deciphering your advice.....the Coaches only add as an aid to player development, and NOT enhanced playbook selection regardless of their preferred style ?

I wouldn't consider the coaches as an aid to player development. They don't actually coach anything and have zero impact on whether a player improves or not, or how much that change might be.

The only thing they do is determine at what speed the player reaches their pre-determined potential. And, there doesn't seem to be much, if any, difference between a highly rated coach and a poorly rated coach.

Bottom line, other than picking a head coach that has the playbooks you want, they aren't worth spending much time thinking about.

My counts are 25 plays with 4 or more wrs for pass focused and 19 plays for possession . So it seem to matter to that level.

What the experienced gms here do is get real creative. With a bit of imagination and position overides you could get wrs on the feild more often than not. It may not be too intuitive but it works real well.
