Special Teams Line play

Hi there,

Has anyone ever seen a blocked FG or XP in this game ? Or a blocked punt ? If the answer is no, then does it really matter who you put as your ST rusher or ST blocker ?

better read this thread = https://mfn16.myfootballnow.com/community/3/3560?page=1#23592

that thread says it is important who you put as your ST rusher or ST blocker.

Reading that thread got me thinking about the "importance" of the ST OL/DL on PAT's & FG's in the first instance.
If a blocked kick or block punt is not achievable...why not start second/third string players only ? Using overrides on KR & PR to put your quickest/fastest on the field makes sense.

i would imagine Setherick would know why you shouldnt do that.

also you have to imagine if JDB ever makes it where you can block a kick or punt then you would regret doing that.

though there is always a chance someone will find a way to do that then either they would either post it here somewhere or someone else would see it and post it.

ive blocked a bunch of fgs and punts over the years but they were more like sacks than deflections. It really only happened when there was a player out of position at punter and they took a long time to kick it. On fgs it was mostly when the holder fumbled i think. Either way there should be more deflection blocks. As for the blockers or rushers, i try to just use my backups to avoid injury and fatigue. I do all my changes on overrides, don't ever fill out the depth chart for the st blockers or rushers

To add to what Bryson said above, the way I look at it is that FGs and PATs are often the most important play in a game, so you want your best player on the field. Now, that best player may be your backup LT or your TE3 (long snapper) or whatever, but he should be out there. Because opponents do "block" kicks because of missed blocks. The reason that your best player may be a backup is because your blockers really only need pass blocking since, as far as I know still, strength isn't used in pass blocking calculations. (Someone please correct me and PM me if this has changed.)
