Re: Deep thinks aboot the draft

How would it get the draft moving? The times would remain the same for anyone not wanting to pick early.

It can't change the time allotted as that would be unfair to those who would only log in just before their allotted time. This would give those who had an hour or more an advantage over those who had 20 minutes.

You say they wouldn't get a better player but they might if they use that time wisely.

OK .. Here's my 2 cents ...

If the war room says Im drafting at 6:00 (when I start work so no internet priviliges). By 5:00 I have 4 picks set up to make. I know at that point I am getting one of those four.

Hypothetically, if the three teams ahead of me pick 3 of those players .. either at their scheduled time or within 5 minutes by using a "Draft Now" option ... I'm still picking at 6:00 despite and I'm getting my player despite. So whats the point?

I cant really work a trade even if I now have 45 minutes until my pick. I have no way to know who is online to start sending offers to. Ill just simply do as I do now ... let my 6:00 pick go in at 6:00.

I would be all for this idea if there was a way to actually use the extra time .. I just don't see how it can be used.

Enlighten me please if I am missing something!

I like the assigned times.... However, I don't believe that it takes 20 min to pick someone. If the times were cut to 5 min.... then the draft could be done in 2 days at the most.

Then you list best player pick option or open upt the computer at 7 am and look again at 9 and not 11:30 am and not again at 4 and lastly at 9 pm. Faster but 5 min is a long time. For those that need time.....then SCOUT a player before the draft. Yes... if you are picking in top few... You should know who you will draft 3 days ahead of time. JOHN WAYNE

The first two rounds don't need to be quicker.

It's tough enough as it is to make a trade to move up/down between picks.

I think the draft time between picks (in the NFL) are:

• Round 1 - 10 minutes
• Round 2 - 7 minutes
• Round 3 - 5 minutes
• Round 4 - 5 minutes
• Round 5 - 5 minutes
• Round 6 - 5 minutes
• Round 7 - 5 minutes

With that being said they have staffs of 20-30 people all working for that pick. Inevitably, a pick will have to be made when I am unavailable. So the extended time is welcomed .. lol.

Also keep in mind as well the players you are competing against aren't necessarily in your same time zone ... or country. Possibly work odd hours (I fit that bill) or simply get called away.

I'm getting old and subscribing to the philosophy of "If it ain't broke ..." ;-)
