The only way to reduce the number of unbalanced and unfair trades is to get better, more accurate values on the trade meter or the players "trade score".

The primary abuse in trades involves getting one or more first round picks for either an older veteran or a position of less importance rated over 1000 on the meter. Here's a recent trade, in L35 as an extreme example:

Detroit sends:
2024 Round 1 Selection 26
2025 Round 1
2026 Round 1

Houston sends:
Jeffrey Smith (MLB) (trade meter value was 2080)

and, it's a very good possibility that Detroit will reduce its previous seasons win total, making those picks even more valuable.
There are a couple of other questionable circumstances involving this trade. But, if a first round pick had a minimum value of 1500, this type of trade would not be as easy to do, unless you combine two or three veteran players and/or pics with a total valuation of 3000 or more.

Wow. Just wow. Dude, it's the 26th Pick. That's a Play Off Pick. He's obviously trying to Win Now, adding a valuable piece to his Defense that a 26th Pick (and future Play Off Picks) can't afford him in the Draft.
