Defensive Pass Interference

It's the one thing that is missing from the simulation, we have offensive pass interference, but no defensive, which happens a lot more in the real game and many games have been won or lost on them.

These numbers are actually being tweaked in 0.4.4 already, so hopefully with the next release we will have more of a turn toward defensive PIs.

Just what we need, PI calls. LoL

I'm convinced, watching NFL games, that whenever the ball was anywhere near a receiver, but they don't think they could catch it, all they have to do is STOP running, let the DB run into them, and draw the PI call.

It sucks when a game is severely affected by a defensive PI, unless you're the beneficiary of the call, but it is a part of the RL game that MFN is trying to simulate. Why do we have offense pass interference in MFN?, which also sucks, but is a part of the RL game. Dont most of the offense pass interference calls occur on pick plays?

This is where the discipline attribute comes into play, and just like in RL pro football, there are those who are more prone to PI penalties. Doesnt make any sense to me to have offensive PI w/o defensive PI.

There were 111 offensive PI calls in the NFL 2017 season and 277 defensive PI calls. The team with the most def PI was the Bengals with 18, five more than four teams tied with 13 PI penalties. The team with the least was the Cards with only 4. Pretty large differential btw top and bottom for getting defensive PI.

What we're seeing is a byproduct of v4.3. Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't defensive pass interference calls gone extinct. :( Heck before, v4.3 I barely ever remember there being an offensive pass interference call and we had defensive at a fair scale.

This Offensive Pass Interference stuff is static from whatever JDB was trying to achieve in putting barriers into the passing game for offenses. (to make passing more difficult) The Bump and Run aspect and all that added stuff with WRs stuttering and trying to break away from defenders. Any ways, I believe things got screwy and JDB needs to re-balance things. Happy medium. Some offensive, some defensive pass interference calls instead of a complete landslide in one direction.

But, yes, you're right....it's out of whack.

Smirt is correct. This is mentioned, maybe 2 months ago, in the MFN-1 forum (Beta chat). JDB did say he wants to work on equaling out, off. and def. PI.

update: JDB mentioned pass interference in THIS thread, listed above...I should have looked first!
