Investing in MFN???

We're all aware of the subscription plans now and I see a lot of complaining and predictions of MFN's demise. Even if MFN was a much better product, we'd still have a mass exodus upon getting this news. It's human nature and no matter the circumstances of the game, some people will leave when asked to pay for something once free.

Those of us that want to stay want a better game. Will the subscriptions be enough to improve the game? If not, what about crowdfunding?

Reading between the lines of the complaints/comments, MFN needs cash and players. To get players, we need a marketing push. Maybe we could start a GoFundMe or something or set up some kind of investment deal.

I'm just spitballing here, feel free to add ways to help keep this going.

I like the idea. Perhaps advertising or spreading the word on social media (cost-effective) might be worth it(?) Not sure if the NFL would come after JDB for licensing infringements or such?

Also maybe name and profile perks like colored name based on subscription and/or donated. It seems silly but us humans get competitive about that.

Edit: Maybe badges on profile pages and stuff like that.

I was thinking more like a group of users pool some money together and "buy a stake" or whatever so JDB can have some working capital.

Incredibly great idea.

My opinion:
There are not enough users for the simulation, let alone premium users.
MFN is only known to a few people anyway. Google initially spat out completely different browser games for football, but I didn't like them that much.
For an app in the App Store that costs a small amount, the game is still missing something. The level of awareness would then increase very nicely.

- It would be great if you could develop your own plays. (<— best feature for me)
- The coaches had more influence, e.g. individual player promotion or interview combine with percentage reference were booming or busting.
- could train strength and conditioning (less injury) in off-season
- Expand special team (I don't know of any FG blocks)

After the current transition period, even if graphics (secondary for me) and AI are improved, how many leagues have no AI teams, 3, 10 or not a single one?

A main sponsor (nextgenstats would be perfect but ...) and more programmers are missing. The potential of this simulation is there (not a kids target group). A one-man show without marketing is unlikely to achieve a breakthrough.

“I have a dream”: HAI against HC
A football simulation with an analytics character would be a great project.
I would like to see that one day, a head coach as an AI (HAI for short), at least in playcalling in the NFL against the rest of the human playcallers.

by the way: HAI (german) = shark (english)

A MFN APP in Google play/Apple store would generate a ton of possible new users.

People searching for football simulation games in either of the above would eventually find MFN.

I would suggest new users get the first month free so they can try it out before having to commit financially

User retention is another issue but clearly we need an influx of new users for MFN to survive longterm. It's my understanding from JDB's post is the new user interface isn't a phone APP so it's basically limited to PC gamers willing to really dig for it.

Unfortunately we're long since past the "If you build it they will come" era of mobile app stores. There are a LOT of games released on those every day, and you need a ton of marketing to make significant impact, but yes, it would have a bigger potential audience if it was published on those.

Yes, the intention of the new mobile interface is to make MFN work better in mobile browsers so phones and tablets, rather than with an aim to it being published in an app store.

How difficult it will be to create native Android/iOS apps that could then be published in the app stores depends upon how JDB is going about developing the new mobile interface - it could be relatively straightforward, or it might require another rebuild from scratch.
