Lateral Gliders

Fancy shmancy title huh? ;)

What I mean is this - http://cust12.myfootballnow.com/watch/479#95451

I have seen HBs and WRs both do this, after a catch (or run) for no reason run towards the sideline, and in most cases if they ran north-south would pick up a TD or first down.

+1, and that's a pretty tame example. I've seen where they literally run down the first down line or goal line for much longer with nobody around.

Yeah , I was watching the last game and just paused it and put it in here, enough!

Yes I've seen my worse examples than the one above too

That's definitely a hole in the algorithm - I hadn't noticed it before

I think this is more due to reorientation of the player in the run.

You don't see curved lane in the route of players... The players have to stop reorient and then restart running.

This lead to odd looking play such as this but also with defensive linemen unable to contain QB in the pocket and sack him or secondary uneffective zone coverage.

Unfortunately, I think fixing this will necessitate to dig deep in the foundation of the game engine ... so not such an easy job to implement.

Yes I think you're right. As with the TO situation I think it may be prudent to gather as much info before any changes are made.
