Another place to use credits

By Detroit Leo

Fine game here. Was thinking that it might be a good idea to have another area to use credits purchased. Maybe use some credits to hire a personal trainer which can help build up attributes that might not typically go up such as speed, arm strength, strength, acceleration and what not. This personal trainer could be used for a single promising rookie or maybe a group of players that can be selected or just clumped together with their positions. Anyway, just a thought.

Dont like it. This is perfect as is, this way it doesnt give those with pocket money to have an advantage. The way it is now everyone is on the same level

I can agree with that Morbid but at the same time I would think that there should be some other way to spend credits and allow these guys to make a little bit of cash. Not saying that the trainer or whatever might be implemented should cost a ton of credits. Just think that maybe there should be something. Maybe the trainer can assist with injury recovery time or something. Was just the first idea that I had in this regard.

Yeah I wouldn't want to see anything that affected game play be available through credits. I think charging to own more than 1 team would be perfectly acceptable though. Maybe charge credits to change the name of a player you draft, things along those lines.

I agree with Pizza and Morbid. Everybody's on a level playing field no matter how much you pay, which is awesome. But there could be cool cosmetic things that you could get with them, like Pizza said, changing names? I think there are other things that we could come up with even if right now I don't really know what. Change the location of the team?

Stadiums, Logo's (team and on the field for home games), equipment... There are so many cosmetic things that could be done.

I'm not big on changing team locations. Team names and logos may be ok to change though. I'm in another football sim called deeproute and one thing I don't like about it is every new user can rename there team. It really ruins the feel of history and rivals in a league when the teams are constantly changing names.

Hey guys,

I'm really glad you started this discussion. I've thought long and hard about ways to implement credit usage beyond just signing up for your team, and am really glad to hear some of your ideas. I'd love to continue to hear your thoughts on things you would like to be able to do!

One of the main goals I have is to keep the playing field level regardless of whether someone pays in or not, so Morbid and pizzadict are absolutely right - there will never be a competitive advantage to anyone who can pay a few bucks over someone who doesn't want to do that.

Up until this last summer I had it where you could just play in a single league without having to purchase credits, but I would rather have the leagues be fuller than try to get a bit more revenue; since I opened it up the leagues have been more full, and it's been a lot more fun.

I do like the idea of being able to change the names of your draft picks - I hadn't thought of that one before. Uploading logos is an interesting idea as well, I'll think on that one. I agree with pizzaddict about giving too much control can ruin the history, so that's a road I will tread lightly down.

One feature I do have nearly ready is the ability to create and manage your own league. In fact, the MFN-7 draft was a dry run of the allocation draft that will be an option for a custom league. In this case, the league owner would have complete control over the team names, locations, etc. If all goes as planned this should be available by the end of the year.

Thanks again for your comments - I will follow this thread with interest!

As sad as this is to say, moving team locations is something that happens. I should know. Mine did. :P

But honestly, if you're looking at something like that, you'd have to start thinking of things like, "straight move vs. expansion team", would players be able to opt out if they didn't want to move, divisional balance (an East team moving to the west coast wouldn't stay in the East, would it?)...

I mean, if you want to pay (literally and possibly figuratively) to move your team, I guess you should be able to. However, there's a lot more to it to consider if this is to be one of the most realistic sims out there. I think JDB would be best-served for his own sanity to put team moves on a way future look. ;)

I like the idea of teams moving and new team nicks, etc. I also think it might be a good idea to give some cosmetic abilities to people for credits.

By the way, have I mentioned player nicknames before?
