The Columbus team has been without an owner the entire pre-season...now on Day 5/5 of the FA market, a huge trade is made involving 1st and 3rd round picks for a 5th yr G rated an 82 no less??

If they were a "new to the game" owner, concern would be the 30day rule .. if it wasn't already proposed under an old owner.

It looks like it was a seasoned user who joined the team, made the trade, and abandoned the team. The 30-day rule only applies to brand new accounts, not old accounts who join a league.

I hate thinking this way but it makes me start thinking I need to make the 30-day rule apply to joining any league at all, not just your account age.

I think the better way to remedy this is to have all current transaction offers removed if the owner abandons team instead of keeping the trade still active.

I know it would be frustrating for me to come into a new team in a new league and not be able to put my stamp on the team right away. It could basically mean a lost season almost for me.

I think instead of punishing everyone because someone took over the team then abandoned the team after the trade why not make it where you cant abandon your team for 30 days after you become the owner ??

it would really hurt everyone if you were to put that 30 day rule on joining a new league so much so people would have to take 1 complete lost season which would put them at more disadvantage in those leagues.

also I think if you start handicapping or handcuffing people where they cant make trades until after they joined a league after 30 days then I would imagine people would stop joining leagues which in turn would slowly kill this game

If you cant make it where people have to be owners of that team for 30 days then make it where the NEWER owners of the teams in a league have their trades go automatically go to the ADMIN and I would imagine in either case the problem would be solved instead of punishing the many because the few

How can that be a legit trade...sounds like BS to me. You buy a team, make a trade to get a low 2nd to early 3rd G in exchange for your 1st and 2nd rd picks, then dump the team?
Trade should absolutely be voided!

I'm with Iellow on this one. Each team I've taken over needed rebuilding, and making some initial trades is a big part of that process. Having to wait 30 days after taking over a team to start actively rebuilding would be a big negative for me.

The ability to abandon a team is a necessary feature, but has opened up a new avenue for anti-competitive behaviors that we'll need to regulate as a community. Limiting everyone for the behavior of a few feels like an overreaction to me.

I agree with punisher above. Shouldn't the 30 day moratorium apply to abandoning the league rather than trades.

Otherwise, why not a 3 day waiting period to make trades for veteran owners.

Or automatic reversals of trades if an owner abandons a team within 30 days of a trade.

Something other than a 30 day waiting period to make a trade if you're a veteran owner. Otherwise, few of us will take over another team. :)
