Why Do Home Teams **** in the Playoffs

By setherick

This game does the stupidest things. My team steam rolls team for most of the year and then can't do anything in the playoffs? I realize part of this is better defensive game planning on my opponents part (it's easy to take away a run game), but just look at how inept my QB becomes: https://mfn67.myfootballnow.com/box/view/327

Punisher has already traced how the AWAY team wins almost all of the playoff games in WC and Divisional rounds in the playoffs in most leagues. But like most things, we'll get excuses that statistical anomalies like this are just random.

I promise you there is nothing different in the game engine between a regular game and a playoff game. I do think that the teams that are in the playoffs typically spend more time tuning a game plan vs. the rest of the league during the season, and of course there is frequently the team that wins a weak division losing to a stronger wild card team. But regardless, the only code change that happens during the playoffs happens only during the league championship where all home field advantage code is removed.

my team in Cust-12 hasn't had any issues as home team.
Home team advantage throughout for last season and this season and I won last season and am about to play for the ship again this season next game.

This doesn't explain how a QB that averages 58% passing for the year suddenly turns in a 27% game. An offense that turns out 400 yards a game drops to below 100. An defense that gives up 250 yards a game suddenly gives up 350. Not all of that can be explained through game planning. I'm sorry. There is some **** code somewhere that suddenly makes a team ****.

I'm 14-2 and 12-4 in my last 2 seasons. 0-2 in 2 home playoff games.

Go Bengals!

The Steelers loss was the most monumental collapse I've ever seen a team go through. It was better than KC blowing a 28 point lead against Indy.

CUST-22: 36-24 (0.6)
MFN-23: 37-23 (0.617)

Fake Pigskin: 32-28 (0.533)
MFN-26: 36-24 (0.6)
MFN-27: 33-27 (0.55)
CUST-28: 30-30 (0.5)

MFN-67: 4-6 (0.4)
MFN-68: 6-4 (0.6)
MFN-69: 0-4 (0)
MFN-70: 0-4 (0)

I don't know about the ownership activity in all the leagues but the few that I know are being run by lots of active users (MFN-1 and CUST-10 come to mind immediately) both have almost 65% home team win/loss record in the playoffs. Only a few leagues have less than a .500 record for home teams in the playoffs.

I unfortunately belong to the league with the absolute lowest home playoff winning percentage for a non-custom league (MFN-19) and have belonged in it since I started. MFN-19 has also turned up some other weird statistical anomalies since I started playing the game like QBs not playing to their attributes at all. Maybe it's just time to abandon the league.

Does MFN-19 have wild card spots going to teams with records good enough to win another division? Or maybe they are from a tough division, so their record doesn't reflect how good they are? Just curious.

Just curious if these good home teams are losing to 7-9 squads that barely made the playoffs, or if they are losing to teams as good as they are (or better).
