The Defense/Offense seems to be getting used to that play.

OK.... so why isn't the HC calling different plays, in nearly all the leagues where I get this message I'm either close or using a full PB.
Please don't say I need to use Rules!

Do u have a full playbook? I do and I've been called out only 1 or two times in 11 games

Yeah, I haven't said much about 0.41 because I was hoping it would be a LOT better than 0.4.0.. but its NOT.
In fact, if you didn't like the sim having more control of your team than you did in 0.4.0. It's even worse in 0.4.1.

Ever get this one? "The offense has gone to that play a few too many times." The play was this...Goal Line Normal HB Outside Strong. It was called 13 times and avg 1.8 yds .??? So what? I didn't call it 13 times the sim did.
I checked 34 plays and it kept picking this dud over and over.
And in the meantime 6 of the 34 I checked weren't even used once and 13 were used only once...
I had the plays checked... the sim didn't use them.
If the sim changes anything to do with my game plan, it should use plays that are successful. more.. and plays that don't work, less. That's what a REAL coach would do. That's what I would do. That's what you would do.

I hate that it will appear like I am ragging on the game and I don't want it to, because I love the game...but I think JDB released 0.4.1 too soon under pressure from some disgruntled users and it wasn't ready for prime time.
He's been playing whack a mole with hot fixes ever since its release and it's not getting better in my opinion.

Watch a few replays from games in 0.4.1... you'll see some bizarre goings on... people running around with their hair on fire... RB's running backwards.. DE's running halfway to the sidelines before deciding they need to be getting after the QB... Ball carriers running towards the defenders instead away from them...LB's blowing right past the QB like they're blind.. Oline blocking is supposed to be much better and I myself don't see much if any difference.
And other stuff too, just more than I can think of right now.

I'm not gonna quit playing the game, but I think I am gonna cut down to just a few teams until we can get a stable sim working... it takes me entirely too much time to gameplan for all my teams only to watch something totally different than what I had expected and planned to see.

I'm not a 3 box checker when I'm game planning...most of the time I use full 40/30 play books and never less than 30/20.
If the sim insists on monitoring my plays and game plan it should move to better plays that are checked in the playbook instead of a goofy *** message..."The offense has gone to that play a few too many times."

You have to also have a good balance in the play type and formations sections of gameplanning.

If you have a full playbook (with a balance of inside/outside run, short/med/long passes), and have playtype and formations set evenly, the Ai should call a good mix of plays.

By "good", I mean you probably won't see the penalty message, NOT that the Ai will actually make a good decision about which plays to call based on the situation or that they will be successful. That would require more "i".

If thats the case then separate the plays into types and formation columns and require a minimum number of checks in each column.

OK, I get all that..so basically I have to put in some plays that I really don't want to use, buty if I don't the AI will just keep using the same play that 'it thinks' is best....hmm.

In some leagues yes, todays game was in 75 and I have 35 plays in there.

I can't wait for the 'casual' version of this because I just can't keep up with all the changes.

No. The Ai will pick a play at random based on the percentages calculated by your gameplanning setup / playbook choices. I don't think "best" ever comes into the equation, or if the play has or has not been used before (even the previous play).

The AI does zero logic in deciding whether one play is better than another. It goes 100% by your gameplan settings: first the play type is chosen, then the plays within that play type are chosen with a weighted score that you see when you choose 'view plays' in your game planning. On defense it chooses the personnel to match your opponent, and then chooses the play based on your settings. The overuse penalty against the defense is reduced significantly and even eliminated in some cases when the offense comes out in non-standard personnel to prevent the offense from forcing the defense to overuse nickel/dime/goal line/etc packages.
