Re: Death of the Custom Leagues

The "create a league" feature is what has kept me hanging around. I'm waiting for the day that enough changes are made to the game to make MFN worthwhile again, at which point I hope to create a league (or maybe join one created by someone else).

I do not think it would be a good idea to require every member of a user created league to have to pay for entry.

In addition, I don't think every league other than user-created leagues should be test leagues. Talk about driving away new players. How frustrating would it be to have built a team who is finally competitive, only to have a change made mid-season that destroys everything you've worked for, and the only alternative is to spend money? This would no longer be a free game, but a free opportunity for you to test out a game.

To me, this entire thread is a non-issue. The system is designed to handle all of this automatically. Nobody is forced to join or stay in a league they don't want to be a part of.

If everyone leaves a league, it will close automatically.

If there are not enough open spots available in the leagues, a new one will be created automatically.

If you can't find one to join that you want to be a part of, create one.

This whole post is excellent, and I just want to focus on this for a second. A very important conversation to have on the site is "What would make you consider MFN worthwhile again?" In other words, what are looking for from JDB here?

wouldnt it be better for you to make a thread titled What would make you consider MFN worthwhile again then people could just post to what comes to their minds what would they consider MFN worthwhile again??

Yep, agree with all of this. I'd also like to remind folks that this game is free to play and even if you do decide to part with $s , it's not going to break anyone's piggy banks or make JDB rich, this game really is a labour of love for him.
I have to say it's also quite off putting reading the constant whining how 'bad the game is. By all means have your say, but make it constructive and polite.

"Beta Chat
Discussion forum for ideas that would be implemented in future versions of the game. You do not have to have a team in MFN-1 to participate, but MFN-1 will be the first place these ideas are applied"

I wish more volunteers voiced opinions /experienceS here.

Still, I think we all know what we want done. It is always how much time will it take and is it worth it. The road map helps situate that order , but the precedence of making money will always win over actual engine modifications

This. We should remember that we are not JDB's friends sitting around and enjoying his hobby as much as people like to make this argument. We are his beta testers and customers. My post above is what I see as the next logical evolutionary step for the site as a business. The step after that would be having a standalone product, but none of us are going to pay money for a game where we'll go 16-0 every year against the AI and win by an average of 120-3.

Easy way to make this more available is to have mfn1 forum available to community forum

The MFN-1 forum has been as dead as the general forums because there haven't been any updates yet. I figure once we get an set of updates it will pick up some. But now it's been crickets in MFN-1 and Beta-87.

i am quite the noob myself, only saying. looks like a fun game tho. i am in a brand new league the harlem draft league that is getting off at the ground floor (2017 initial draft) my first 2 picks will prolly surprise everyone.but have to wait 3 weeks to begin. so i will be able to see how good i am at all the aspects of football. i think it is gonna be fun especially since i think sideways wise and outside the box.
