Another Priority...

I realize our fearless leader is very busy working on the 0.4.5 game engine. But we have another fairly urgent issue. It is obvious that in several leagues some low self esteem types are opening bogus user accounts and making trades with themself thus destroying teams and creating a headache for everyone. Anyone doing this is, of course, a lowlife. I know that JDB monitors IP addresses but I think with cell phones, work internet and outside WiFi it's pretty easy to make a trade using a different IP address. All this is possible because the trading point value system isn't very accurate and allows some very lopsided deals. I know, it's easy to point out problems that someone else has to deal with. Perhaps a system where owners can contest trades? Or just fix the point values to disallow such lopsided deals. It's something that needs fixin' and I'd be happy to help in any way I could... :)

So they are opening accounts, waiting 30 days, and then making trades?

Quite possibly the most garbage trade I’ve ever seen. Detroit got robbed blind. I’m starting to think new player trades should be reviewed for months before being able to trade normally.

I don't think that new owners should trade AT ALL until they are comfortable knowing how to weight players and knowing what positions are most valuable. I've seen a lot of new owners hit the trade window and ship all of their great players away for free.

My goal is to build this team to a top contender over the long term. I am not necessarily expecting a playoff team this season.
I am comfortable with the free agent market. The draft class isn't great this year.
First season, . . . I cut a lot of high priced minor talents . . . and took a huge dead cap for second season.
Second season, goal is to make a young, somewhat viable team . . . with a full roster . . . mostly using FA that are booming; Not to gamble on paying large bonuses to busting rookies and building more dead cap. These guys are the vets filling in my roster.
I hope Indy does well with his draft picks and they all boom. I got what I wanted to get my team through a building season. Maybe I am making a huge mistake. The conventional wisdom seems to be against me . . . see you in the sims!

It may be throwing people off that all the vets I took switched positions in prep for training camp already. (cross-training camp) I play a high substitution game, so I like to have a depth chart with real depth. I have pulled off some surprise comebacks that way. ;)

I appreciate all the interest in how I play this game. Ask yourselves, did you have a 70% win record across 7 leagues after two months playing?

I have read setherick, and applied what I have learned, . . . to the best of my ability.

I see that the popular opinion is to not trade draft picks. I may take that advice, or not, as I see fit in any given situation.

Thank you, and good luck to you all!
