A couple of updates regarding league expiring

By jdavidbakr - Site Admin

I have updated the league expiring logic as follows:

* User-created leagues will now expire in 90 days. This should give you plenty of time to get people for your league, but will prevent the leagues from sticking around forever. There will be no credit refund if your league expires.
* All leagues will conclude their current season before expiring. Right now the only league this impacts is cust-84, which should cancel its expiration when it runs on Saturday night.

Please post here if you notice any errors in the logic of this happening.

does this mean even the user created leagues will finish their season too ??
if that is the case then American Empire Football , Anarchy , Big Boys , College Football , Interior Football , Maddox Football , NFL Live , Sweden all stars and Turf wars will be affected by this change.

also sent this to you in PM

What I meant is that there is only the one league that is about to expire whose expiration will at least be delayed until the end of the season.

does that mean Maddox will expire soon or will the season continue and then expire once the season is over?

If a league is not at least into the regular season it will get set to expire. Maddox is a custom league, though, so it will have 90 days to get to 50% before it expires once the next check runs.

Thank you JDB. This is certainly a better alternative than to have a fleet of old, neglected ghost ships cluttering up the harbor.

And shame on the users that let it happen.

When you start a user-created league, you as commissioner assume a responsibility to that league and its member coaches. It bothers me to see these leagues treated like a little kid treats a new puppy ... fun to start with, but, as soon as it requires some work, "It's not my puppy any more. Have it put it to sleep for all I care."

i disagree with this statement because my opinion it sounds like you are judging them .

i just know maybe those people knew what they had in mind when they created it and really life hit them hard where something either be minor or major went sideways on them where they had to drop everything to deal with whatever it was.

of course i can see why you are judging them because really that is lot easier to do than maybe have compassion for them that something in their life affected them deeply where that issue went sideways and they had to drop everything.

That may be the scenario in a (very few) cases. But, in those cases, the commissioner should explain his absence to the rest of the league members. I have never seen that.

And try to find a replacement Admin for that league.
