Re: [Update] Injury settings available in user-owned leagues

I agree that having the injury setting visible would be good to add. I've got to think about how to display it all, though, because we're not at a place where the user-owned leagues can have a large number of differences - so it become a UI issue. I don't want to just slap information around, there kind of is already too much of that already and I'm working on trying to figure out ways to clean it up.

How about an (If....then...) automatic forum post in the league forum like when someone joins a league or a trade happens. If (injury rate changes) then (post new injury rate) as a forum message.

This wont effect regular leagues since the Injury rate is static and only effect private leagues with a forum post. I think every owner could live with that and any owner making multiple changes would be made accountable by the owners.

How about when you take over a team when it tells the all the information it does already it also tells you the injury setting for that league so there is no SURPRISES.

From just a quick look it would seem fairly easy to add any pertinent league information either in the sidebar on the league homepage or possibly add another tab where the standings are; maybe League Settings.

Can I just adjust the injury rate for specific teams too.

All jokes aside, this can only be a once a season change surely? Also if it can be changed week to week, it's open to abuse. All leagues or no leagues should get the treatment.

The switch should also be a one time only option. It shouldn't be a week by week or season by season tweak. please turn it down bud. Ar-Say has had enough!

Just not fair on owners who have battled injuries all year and now other teams can get a 'free pass' for the remainder.

Personal view is this 'dumbs down' the game into levels: Beginner, easy, regular, hard, expert.

I play multiple teams, some are injury riddled, some aren't and that's the way it should be (in my opinion)

Yes it's a simulation, a sim on the NFL. That's a sim based on one league, who knows whether the NFL would be the norm or an outlier if there were 100 real life leagues?

I'll leave the one league I run as is. Overcoming adversity and still winning is way more satisfying in my opinion.

Now is the current injury level projection, the highest/hardest level or can I turn it up higher! (Just asking)

The time has come to add a descriptor to user created leagues.
Before anyone joins a user league, all league settings MUST be a static, server generated from the league settings as to exactly what the league is.
Delays, spins, injury settings, customizable... etc.
When a user searches leagues, the information is - even now - far too sparse to make anything other than a stab in the dark - especially for noobs to MFN.
perhaps a hover note, old school radio button, or a drop down should be added to allow users to know all settings of a league prior to joining.
****, create "league cards" along the lines of player cards. The code already exists. A few tweeks (easier said) and VIOLA!
This whole shenanigans has ultimately resulted in me delaying a created league YET again. 8 months, still delaying.
Users do not know full settings before join, and admins cannot properly communicate or "run" league forums.
Total waste of money to create a league... Still.
I wish ("spit in one hand wish in the other" grandpa said - "see what gives you something...") anyway, I wish I would have known the limits of the admin being involved long before i made what is still a mistake to create a league.
Admins cannot sticky, and cannot use league chat. ****.
League admin should have some parameters of flexibility within the league only forum.
EG: I want to do this, but I cannot sticky it, so it will be buried and pointless, lost in the trade and new owner server generated posts (OH! MFN already has what it takes to accomplish the above!).
The current situation prohibits and minimalizes a league admin from actually running a "unique" league, and prevents users from knowing what they are getting innto re: spins, injuries, non spin day, time of spin, all the important stuff in a game that relies more upon the GM side than the joystick side.
MFN is NOT about "playing" the game, it is about setting things up so the sim can run to one's favor.
THAT requires user created leagues to have full transparency. It is a matter of pulling existing data into a "hover" info bubble or radio button (eg flavor text on MMOCCG cards. Been there, done that in 1998). Very much within the current server capabilities - that code has been round for a couple decades now. Digital Addiction/Nioga did it 1997. Pioneered it, as a fact. Glad to have participated.

Make it happen, PLEASE. Work it.
Edited for grammar, which is still atrocious.

I admin 5 leagues and created 3 of them but I also own a team in all 5 leagues. I wasnt aware that the admin capabilities were limited if you didnt own a team.

I can sticky any thread and often do. I can delete and lock threads as well if needed. I can communicate in league chat too. I wish there was a way to PM everyone in the league instead of copying and pasting the same message 31 different times.

After reading this, I am creating a stickied forum message with the league settings for anyone wishing to join to see. Thanks for the idea/reminder

...BUT. You shouldn't have to do something the database can auto-pull and dictate from.
User interface is always key. Sure, you as an admin do the work, but it sure would be easier if it auto - pulled the info from the league database instead, wouldn't it?
Time is money - or family.
Many persons create leagues, not very many admins actively monitor them as you do, cj.
NOTE: Until one joins the league, the finites, the details, are hidden. Sure, join a league. Hope the admin made a settings post.
Total gamble. Results in people joiing, then leaving - OR TRASHING - a user created league.
Y'all have mentioned these issues throughout all league and game forums since I joined a couple yrs ago.
NO!
It can be, and should be auto generated before a GM joins in the first place.

Let's make life easier both for admins, as well as new GMs regarding settings for created leagues.

It is a shame one has to dedicate yet more time for items that can be auto-pulled from an existing database that can use existing interfaces/coding available for ease of use.
Edit: Most folks who create leagues are not as dedicated as you are cj. #respecttoyou

I agree 100% crazy, league info should be transparent, auto and easily accessible.

I'm also a firm believer each owner should have a comprehensive data page with the following

Overall record
Teams owned
Teams abandoned
Teams abandoned (less 1 season)
Seasons played
Playoff appearances
Playoff record
Division titles
Confernce titles
League titles

Also a notes page where any league admin can make notations about the owner.

This is a sim driven by stats and what's more important then each owners individual statistics. It's also a great tool for league admins to recruit owners or decide if an owner should be allowed to join his league.

I also 100% agree that all the league and owner info is tracked and available but just needs to be compiled and properly displayed

Oh.....and thanks Crazy for the acknowledgement. I've basically dropped all the leagues that dont have an active admin.

It's like the regular leagues were left to die slowly while private created leagues thrive.

I do love this game but agree it needs plenty of tiny little patches to make it more user friendly
