Coaches

I see the coaching thing is still the complete total waste of time it always has been. What exactly is the point of even having them? Funny how the new owners can only sign the unemployed Skid Row bums. LOL

The head coach is the important one for the playbooks and the rest are suppose to help player development to some minor extent.

Anyone can poach coaches from other teams after the end of season spin during free agency. For example, you can hire someone's offensive coordinator to become head coach or QB coach to become Offensive coordinator. As long as it's an upper movement.

They can be poached to the end of a season regardless of the contract. Only requirement is an upgrade in position.

You can poach them even if under contract as long as it's an upgrade.

Just to add....if you don’t sign them before they re-sign with their team, they are bound to their new contract and can’t negotiate even for a promotion.

But only for the first season of the new contract. At the end of the season they may be poached.

Yes. Exactly. But if you wait to FA2 and I re sign him in FA1 then he is locked up for another year. That’s why after FA 1 you’re really in a pinch cause most good coaches would have been re-signed.

I wasn't paying close attention to the details but it would not let me make an offer to employed coaches for an upgrade. Wasn't looking at poaching was just seeing what it would allow. I just think the whole coaching thing is a pain in the *** for the limited benefit you get. Like the financials, I just wish they were more in depth or more realistic in team effect. But IF a frog had wings...

Coaching seems pretty aids, yeah

It's random but the way the system works with financials of coaches and contracts and top 4 salaries, it's all extremely obtuse and makes very little sense. Coaching does matter so if you get screwed out of a great coach (likely) then you're just left to dry. It's kind of an active detriment to my enjoyment of the system at this point, meaning it's not serving its purpose. I don't know of anyone that actually enjoys the way coaching works right now. Being able to build your own playbook based on all available plays, maybe giving you experience towards unlocking new plays as you try out new plays in games, all of that is a more rewarding and logical system than "pick the best coach, poach"
