Hi jdavidbakr,

I appreciate that MFN is a passion project and one that doesn't bring in nearly enough money for you to justify devoting substantial time towards its ongoing development.

What you have here is priceless - you have a passionate, knowledgeable and eager community who genuinely want MFN to thrive, and who would be willing to support you in this.

However, I've noticed that, until today, the most consistent concern among users is the perceived lack of visible progress.
This is entirely understandable from both sides, you are one man and as it stands, MFN struggles to fund its own development.

The recent billing changes have caused quite a stir, especially when coupled with the perceived slow progress. Change is never easy, and I believe things will settle down once a happy medium is found.

Your quick addition of a new ad-free entry level tier in response to the feedback is a positive sign. However, it also highlights that involving the community in decisions before implementing changes could prevent unnecessary disquiet. That brings me to a couple of suggestions:

- Form a group of trusted users, a sort of steering committee, to discuss changes and bounce ideas off before implementing them.
- Have you thought about bringing in volunteer developers? I know it comes with its challenges, but tapping into the skills of this community might just be the boost MFN needs.

I understand the complexities and risks of opening up the core project to multiple contributors, given that it has been running for so long and is an ongoing business aspect. Still, there might be alternative ways to welcome contributions.

We're all here because we want MFN to succeed. A few tweaks and fixes, especially addressing long-standing bugs, could go a long way in steadying the boat after today's announcements.

Thanks
Ed

I am a bit loath to say this, because I had to cough up my credit card number to merely get here, but this thing just needs to work. I guess I got my "legacy credits" eventually, but you could have been a lot more explicit in how and when they would be applied. Also, the opening screen works in Chrome but not in Opera. For anyone who doesn't appreciate being surreptitiously spied upon (good intentions are not sufficient when there are credit card numbers involved), this is a big problem. I think it's high time you started making money off this thing, and I don't mind paying you, but I need to understand that I'm paying for something.

I'd love to see a grandfathered in clause that let's you stay in the leagues you are already in presubscription change. It'll hit a lot of leagues hard when a lot of the most knowledgeable and active players drop 10 leagues. By grandfathering players to keep leagues they already are in it'll prevent a league crash frenzy and perhaps strengthen ties of the players to those leagues as they can't just replace them if they are free players thus increasing league stability and participation. It'll also reward players who have been been keeping the game active for years.

Maybe instead of grandfathering people in, you could let them play out the season under the old rules and then cut them off. It's okay to ask for people to pay you, but suddenly shaking us down is no way to earn our trust.

This is how it's working, no one is being kicked out mid season.

All that does is delay the problem. It'll still result in mass lack of owners at seasons ends. I'll be required to drop 4 and there are many in far more leagues than I. Even if it's currently an average of 3 teams per person, and a third are willing to pay you are basically halfing the number of teams with owners. I don't know the numbers so I'm just guessing and trying to keep my guesses close to best case scenario.

JDB, that's not how it worked for me. I had to pay to keep going. The league wouldn't let me in unless I upgraded my subscription. Possibly because I am in two leagues, the second one wouldn't work.

As far as people dropping the leagues, I'm not doubting that this will happen. However, what good does all that popularity do us if we're giving it away? It might have been better to do this before the leagues were half empty, but it is way past time for us to see whether MFN can be a viable business or not. When people are unwilling to pay JDB, they are not doing him any good.

The price point is unpleasant, but it is still below some games which are objectively worse than this one. I'm not happy about paying the freight, but I will at least stick around to see what happens.

As mad as this makes me I am going to try to say everything in the nicest way possible but this is total ****. Not to be that guy or anything but by no means is this going to help MFN member-wise. It's just going to make things worse in the long run. It makes it just feel like a "Pay-to-play" type of game. The only people that are really going to pay are people who are truly dedicated. Of course I will still be in a league somewhere but this totally kills MFN for me, especially since I have to choose one to stay in. Many days to kill time I would go through every league and get stuff done but now being held to one league just doesn't feel right. I am also a fan of other online football games like Pigskin Empire but MFN was the first one I was a part of. What pisses me off the most is the fact that I've spent hours trying to build teams and try to make them good again, now I have to stay in one (Which will probably be MFN-74). I think being limited to something like 3 or 5 teams is more reasonable so people dont lose as much as they will. I totally understand where you're coming from with this idea but for somebody who is not willing to pay on a website I spent about an hour a day on, I just dont agree. In my opinion this is total bullshit and I dont agree with any **** part of this. I know you most likely wont see this at all but it's all just my opinion.
