I've just had an owner (AlekTx7) take ownership of a team (Dallas) then ditch them without any reason or notification.
Please make sure that you really want in, if you have a change of heart, please PM before abandoning the team so I can make arrangements.

well i think people are starting to do that where they take a ownership of a team then they ditch the team right after.

i think it is a faze ( i think that 's the word) now for people to do that.

That 'abandon' button was the worst idea ever

Ill be honest I like the button.

Scenarios why I think it helps:

I think it helps cut down on jdb abandoning teams.

Why let a disgruntled keep a team they won't renew anyways? Abandon and make it available to another owner.

Sometimes an owner comes along you'd rather not deal with so boom .. you're out.

I get that and agree, but its the open to abuse that bothers me, such as making dodgy trades and then abandoning.

15 days until draft starts, so plenty of time to still get a team

The only difference between having the abandon button and not is that with it you actually know when an owner has abandoned the team (and someone else can take over).

Without it, you don't know when the team has been abandoned and the team just goes unmanaged. If the owner has a team in another league, this could end up being until his "registration" in your league ends which might be the end of next season.

Having it is definitely better than not having it.

well i really think if you make a trade with that team then that ABANDON button gets disabled or goes black and i say that because if someone wanted to they could trade that team's every draft pick for players then they could abandon it and screw over the next owner who takes the team over (not sure this can happen)

And the sad part about it probably it would take something like that for a change to be made where the ABANDON button gets disabled , it goes black or that person is stuck with that team for a season or until they get draft picks again.

Not saying JDB wouldnt do anything

what i am saying is it seems for most part some changes that have occurred because someone found a loophole and JDB has to go around closing them which it would be nice if people wouldnt try to find a loophole or cause a mess .

SIMPLE PUT DONT make any trades until you are certain you want that team (it would be nice if people couldnt trade for 1st season they join a league because i would think that way it would stop people taking over a team and doing bunch of trades then hopping the heck out dodge)

sorry for rant.

Having an "abandon team" button doesn't increase the likelihood that someone will abandon a team. As WarEagle says, it gives someone who is leaving their team the ability to be courteous and let someone else take over their team rather than let it go unmanaged. If someone is going to join a team to make a trade and abandon it, they will do that whether there is an "abandon team" button or not, but without the button the damage would be greater than with it.

We still have places left, especially in the NFC.

Tampa Bucks now gone.
Welcome hkpman7180 who is a massive Bucs fan.

If the league fills up sooner and with everyone's agreement I'll push the draft date forward.

Hi

I would like to join with the Vikings. Im relative new to the game (finished my first season - and loved it) so you should be able to beat me without too many problems ;-).
