Interesting Dilemma I'm In; need clarity on a subject

Here's the situation: My Seattle team has clinched the division and the 4th seed before the final game. I am playing a team that is tied with one other team for the worst record in the league and I own that other team's 1st round pick for next year. In real life, my team would play its young backups to give them quality playing time and rest its veterans. Would I be allowed to do this in this game so that my injured players and my starters would be okay for the wild card game I will play in? I don't want to lose my team just because I thought it would be okay to do it and find I get banned for tanking rules.

it's completely ok to rest starters if you've clinched a playoff spot. In my opinion it's tanking if a team is trying to lose on purpose for no other reason than to gain a better draft position throughout the season. Resting starters is a good strategy that is used every year in real football :)

In a sense, though, I'm trying to gain a better draft position this way as well. This was my other point. However, I'm going to rest all of my older players as much as I can and play. I'll pay attention to this thread and change if I can/need to. The situation is that I'm playing Carolina, who shares the worst record in the league with Jacksonville. I own Jacksonville's 1st round pick. Jacksonville is playing a good team. I really don't want to figure out who would get the 1st round pick if both lose. If Jacksonville wins, then the tie they might have with various teams is quite substantial which shows that the owners of teams in this league are getting better.

You have nothing to gain in that game by playing your starters, no reason not to rest them up. Also an FYI, tanking is actually not prohibited but it is typically frowned upon.

Good, I have a lot of youngsters that need experience playing so reality is that I want to really gain some experience with my youngsters to keep them happy as many also are career backups and need to keep them happy.

Playing your reserves for the last game or two when you have already clinched your playoff position isn't tanking. If that results in you getting a higher draft position, good for you.

Going all season long doing something other than trying to win is tanking. While it may not be officially against the rules of MFN, I'd rather not be in a league with owners who do this.

Tackles as QBs .. LBs as RBs .. DTs as WRs ..

That's tanking ..

On a related (and unrelated) note, as an experiment prompted by some injuries I put a CB in my RB depth chart in MFN-1. He is averaging 7.1 ypc on 50 attempts, but he also has 6 fumbles.
