You're 7-0 in USFL
You've outscored your opponents almost 4:1
What is there to reevaluate?

4:1 is good. But he could always get to 8:1... not that I think I've ever achieved it. But it's a stretch goal.

And exactly how is that beneficial to ANY league when there is such a dominating team within the league that others questions themselves as to why join, knowing that they will not win?

Don't get me wrong. I approve building dominance and dynasties within the sport, but when it becomes apparent that no matter what one does to get better, there will ALWAYS be that one team....aka RL New England Patriots, that keeps you down.

I am currently in 4 leagues (WOW, that aint much considered by others) and I share 4 of those Leagues to MWD. Against him I have attempted an unsuccessful all pass attack, an unsuccessful all run attack, an unsuccessful balanced attack, an unsuccessful procession related offense, an unsuccessful ALL-Blitz Defense, an unsuccessful DB ALL-MAN based D, and an unsuccessful Zone related D between LB and DB. I have yet to gain a win against him

When I try and give my best, to my opinion, and change game plans to reflect the best possible attack against my opponent, while attempting to be competitive, and being humiliated later on in the game by the score, if I can find a softer word, needless to say I am left scratching my head.

I will not ever join another league where MWD is a member.
I can't beat him and I will not join him
Though I do like going against him

Y'all need to learn sarcasm so I don't have to throw the /sarcasmfont/ around.

I'm one of the most competitive people that you'll meet. I regularly reread The Prince, and I definitely believe it's better to be feared than loved.

That said, I wouldn't spend any time writing these posts if I didn't want people to be equally competitive. Because, you're right, it's really no fun losing by huge points to the same teams over and over again, especially when you do whatever you can to beat them. Unfortunately, that's a major problem with the game right now. Certain aspects of the game will lead to huge point differences...and it's up to all of us to figure them all out.

Well, gee Booger, I wish I felt like I was that good! But, I think you have me confused with another owner. I think we are only in 2 leagues together - 83 and 86, and we have only played one time in 83, which if memory serves, it was a pretty close game.

I would hope you would reconsider joining any league I'm in, because honestly, I very much enjoy those 2 leagues we are in. I like the banter you have with your division rivals and I think it adds a little something to the league. I really wish we were in a few more together.

Everyone loves a good booger. I find these indepth conceptual posts helpful. I appreciate the guys taking the time to post their thoughts and experiences. I'm not sure I agree with everything buts it's good food for thought.

The problem with the blow outs are owners that don't play the game or don't try to get better. They call the same bad plays over and over.

Defense is much more challenging but I like the way it's going.

I too enjoy the leagues with MWD and Boogie. They are fun. When you have as many active owners as possible the leagues are much much more enjoyable. Winning (me) or losing (booger).

I don't want people to necessarily agree with everything either. These primers are a "here's a way to get started that has proven successful, now do what you want with it" type of post.

I see the blowouts and owners "not trying" as a problem with the game mechanics. It's really friggin' hard to be a new player on this sim, especially if you haven't ever played a football sim in the past. I've played football sims for 20 years, and it was hard for me to figure out the nuances of this game. The reason that it is so hard is because of how unforgiving the game is.

Oh, you called the wrong defense against this play, so your opponent scored a 90 yard TD?

What defense should I run against it?

Oh, you'll need a rule for that because the game is always going to default to the wrong line up. Sorry.

And so on.

I've found that the newer players that can come in and are successful are the ones that are voraciously reading through the forums. I figure I can at least speed up some of that reading by dumping a whole lot of notes into one post. (I lost it, but at one point, I had a running list of threads that I returned to that described how x-aspect of the game worked.)

I find your primers to be incredibly informative. I use them as game enhancers to tack onto stuff that I'm already implementing + evolving. Also, it has had me looking closer at the game engine and what happens when certain plays are called on both side of the ball. There's also stuff past and present I've taken from your tips (past, throw long and often) and current (avoid zone defenses) which has made the game more enjoyable for me and my teams more competitive. Thank you!

Agree. I wish I had known about the noobie threads when I first started. ****, I'm still learning new things from all the good posts. Keep them coming.

I agree that reading the forums, every word you can, is one of the most effective ways to be competitive without all the bumps and bruises.
