RB Vision

How about a running back category for vision or field of vision to read holes and make cuts.

As far as I know, it's in the "ball carrying" skill.

That said, I agree that a some kind of vision for running the ball would be cool.

Low stat = RB follows the script, pretty much no matter how bad it looks.
High stat = RB deviate to some extend, if he sees an opening.

For that stat to be effective, needs high acceleration (change of direction "speed"/agility).

I thought this was called Intelligence, and Ball Carry had more to do with shrugging off defenders that hit you from behind.

Yes, i would expect intelligence to cover the "deviation from the script". While I don't know all the ways ball carrying is used.. calculating a clean hand-off "in stride" is one of the times it is definitely used.

Might be. I never thought of intelligence as a skill I needed on my RB's (apart from learning new plays, so some intelligence, but not a high stat).

I recall jdb writing somewhere, that ballcarrying affected the effective game speed though.

So Player A with 95 speed and 85 ball carrying will run faster with the ball than Player B with 95 speed and 50 ball carrying.

I don't know how big difference, but that's how I understood it. It makes some kind of sense, since we also see those "YAC"-recievers in the NFL. Some are just gifted with the ball in their hands, others are gifted at being Antonio Gates or Megatron and simply picking the ball out of the air in tripple coverage. :)

Max Speed 65
Acceleration 11
Strength 6
Intelligence 2
Discipline 1
Pass Catching 2
B&R Avoidance 1
Route-Running 3
Pass Rec Courage 2
Break Tackle 4
Ball Carrying 11
Avoid Fumble 6
Run Blocking 1
Pass Blocking 3

I have speed 6 times as strong as any other rating . Ball carry and acceleration and speed get yards. Intelligence is supposed to help find the hole, but I watch all my guys run in to the back of the LT all the time.

I like slow backs or FBs running the ball out of the RB position but it's to grind yards . There I like all the above plus strength and break tackle . Slow being above 70 more like 80 speed backs.

It is like no jumping skill. You got to be creative when looking for football related skills

Acceleration is mainly used within 2.5 yards, so a guy making more cuts because of higher carry acts kinda of like an agility trait when running the ball.

An 91 speed 17 acceleration and 63 carry back might get caught in the backfield more often ...as well as he might be labeled a one cut back. For when he gets to the second level hes less likely to change direction and if he does he will have to get his speed back up. As by 15 yards speed is in full effect and acceleration is not used again till he cuts again or breaks a tackle.

He just won't break as many +15 yard gains . Where a slightly slower back with 80+ acc and 100 carry will be "juking" a little more or hitting the hole faster and turn those 15 yarders into 20+ yarders .

Those guys I drop down to wr to get them a little faster and if thier skills are balanced use them as a 3rd down/ rb2/ return guy. Kinda like any smaller explosive agile nfl back.

I like to measure explosion with broad jump, vertical leap, 3 cone, and shuttle. With a good three cone score and those others really makes for an agile player.

If we ran our dots through a 3 cone drill some of those high acceleration guys would put up better numbers . As the drill has a bunch of turns pretty close together . Under our code it would be speed and acceleration doing all the calculations . But while running you have to throw ball carry in there cause it changes angles of the defenders .

One pass play to the wr1 I saw an example of this agility taking place. Both players were near elite but db had better speed and the wr had better acceleration . It was a short route that ended quickly then the qb was off the mark the other way . Both guys juked back and forth 3 times within 5 yards . As comical it was it was easy to see how acceleration was dominant rating in that quick set of senerios for short yardage.

Too bad we don't see guys juke like that with the ball, but at least 100 carry guys move more often.

I may be wrong, but I think I remember reading a post a long time ago that said ball carrying was agility.
