Just wanted to announce that the passing logic is ready, but since it's a complete rewrite I'm going to hold off until after the league championship game to release it. In theory it shouldn't impact the championship game much, but it's always possible. I'm concerned mainly that the power of the passing game may be out of balance one way or the other.

What changes do we need to look for since preseason is about to start?

Basically, I rewrote a lot of the logic for the passes themselves - where the QB actually throws the ball, and whether it is caught/incomplete/intercepted. So anything in the passing logic from throw to catch specifically. I'm hoping for more realistic action and reduction in the primary issues. Nothing else really has changed. |

So we're still looking at mostly SP vs SP in the secondary with catching mattering more? |

The actual route running algorithms changed slightly to accommodate the new passing logic, but essentially they are the same. But you should see fewer wide open drops and catches in heavy coverage. |

Hopefully after this we might make some progress toward coverages. |

1) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8673#1572225
a) This one is pretty bad for a throw not under pressure. 2) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8673#1572229 a) What is the DB doing at the bottom of the screen? 3) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8673#1572233 a) This one is pretty bad. 4) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8673#1572262 a) The QB is under pressure on this one, so I think that probably is what causes it. 5) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8673#1572276 a) The slot WR just stops moving. 6) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8673#1572295 a) This one is bad, but it's also into triple coverage so it's probably good he doesn't get it closer. 7) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8673#1572299 a) This one is 50/50. The QB hit the WR in stride on the same play for a big gain earlier, but that's not an easy throw. 8) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8673#1572300 a) I don't like this one, but I can't pin point exactly what went on. The WR does some strange things. 9) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8673#1572330 a) The velocity on this pass is ... interesting. 10) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8673#1572331 a) Ball was "knocked down" by a player that was 8 yards away. That's some reach. |

5) of seths post was all in his defenders favor in the B&R category only ..froze the wr and the qb pass was way off and the velocity seems a bit high there. There was another pass where the velocity was off the charts as well I the velocity area. Still, man cover guys seemed better and the qb bad pass ( over and under throws ) look way better than the old wr adjustments. Nice work! |
