Roster coverage warning
by TheWitchHunter @ 7/15/2026 2:20 am
New to MFN-TEST as of today.
NOt sure what this is.
Ive done all my depth chart, except ST.
I know it's about ST positions at this point.
Gonna follow the lb/cb for gunner; fb, te, ol for st blocking, and de and lbs for rush a la seth circa a decade ago when i do it tomorrow; and ST is my last depth chart to-do as of this post.

Anyway, what exactly is the "roster coverage warning?"
How does it work and what does it include and how can i test it?

If i don't know, I don't know.
I want to know what it is, how it works, what the penalties and effects/affectations are, and what i need to do for testing on the matter.

IN fact - any info as o what i should focus on would be sweet.
Over 100k messages and prolly 100 of those were posted in 2026. Which means the forums were pretty useless as far as getting a testing focus.

It's quite obvious unless the group catches me up, I wont catch up, because the forums for mfn-test are not helpful - not one bit (long day of reading a lot of outdated info).

Help me catch up on what to focus on so I can be of better service. Thanks!

Thanks in advance for the info.

PS: please do NOT talk to me like i'm stupid.
I'm new to testing, not new to MFN, and I'm not feeble-minded.

also...
it 12.27 mt, not 627 mt am.
obviously, we still have the forum time stamp bug, for 1.
the byline time stamp is correct.
The bottom and final time stamp is incorrect.
6 hour difference b/w the byline and the bottom line time stamp.
Here and in alpha.

What happens if I don't meet the "uncovered groups" and the "Depth chart gaps" at game sim?

Is this a feature that creates confusion or a feature that points users to being and/or feeling required to fix a roster/ depth chart issue before the game sim?

There is ZERO info about how a player can fix any issues brought up by the roster coverage warning - with its special, big, wide and huge notation at the top of every page.

Are we showing info of consequence or creating an unnecessary anxiety/task for the user?

i've got anxiety because of the warning, but i'm not going to fix the alert - i just got here 8 hours ago. The urgency and priority display of the roster coverage warning insists that I do something - and do it now.

I just know not fixing that big white glaring box of a warning is gonna screw me.
Even i it won't, don't cannot and will not - i just know it!
...becuase there's ZERO info about it.

But what do I, the user, do?
There's no explanations or directions as to what I should do.

If I don't fix the alert, will the AI take actions? and if so, what actions?
- Will I get screwed by not addressing this issue that is new and has no instructions?
I don't really know how to fix the GIGANTIC WHITE BOXED ALARM and again - there's no instructions about this new feature.

... moving forward - if i'm going to be alerted in such a drastic fashion - should I be?
I certainly have not been directed how to address the alert.

I'm assuming the my depth chart will be reorganized at game sim - and that is the worst situation for any user in MFN.
I don't know what the "roster coverage warning" is, I don't know how to use it, I don't know how to fix it, so I guess I'll just hope I don't get screwed by the AI messing with my depth chart and my overs and my blah blah blah.
Can we see what NOT knowing does to the customer and to competition?

Anything that creates more work and more worry for the user better be clearly explained and well justified. If it is not necessary, if it not of urgency, then it should not be included.
If Roster coverage warning is necessary - then we had better explain to the customers HOW to use it and WHAT it is.

I SHOULD NEVER BE ASSUMING ANYTHING IN MFN. I SHOULD KNOW. WE SHOULD KNOW.

There's no wiki, here, either.
How the heck are we supposed to know how to use the new stuff without a wiki?
If we are going to add it, then we MUST explain it and provide user instructions.

That's a bunch o' questions, a bunch of we need directions, and an ask that we start explaining this stuff to the users... and every bit of it is 100% legit.

I look forward to legitimate responses.

First of all, I'm not sure if my assumption is correct.
This warning is probably meant to prompt the GM to step in and fix any gaps in the starting lineup or potential substitutions.
If you don’t do that, the AI might step in and fill the gaps at its own discretion, including possible cuts and signing free agents.

But, as I said, that’s just my assumption, and JDB should verify it or explain it in more detail if necessary.

I should revise my comment. JDB did already clarify that. So my assumptions are defintions ;-)
