Here's a thread to discuss the depth chart governance updates currently running in MFN-1. Please post issues pertaining to that here.
What -should- be happening is that, if you have any depth chart positions out of line, your depth chart will get reset on the game stage. If you didn't have the warning on your depth chart an your depth chart still got updated, let me know - I've got logging in the engine so I should be able to see what the engine saw and what it tried to do to correct it, so we can deduce what happened.

First, precisely what does "out of line" mean?
Second, please carefully investigate my Panthers situation for the game today.

For some reason, I thought I had already posted this announcement here, but I can't find it, so apparently I never did. My apologies.
I'm adding some additional depth chart governance. To better simulate the roster requirements of a professional football team, teams will now be required to maintain a minimum number of active players at certain positions on their depth chart.
When you visit your depth chart, you'll see an alert if any position falls below the minimum requirement. If your team has a shortage at any required position, the game engine may reset your depth chart to prevent invalid lineups from being used in simulations.
It is also making sure that you have the minimum count of each position group on your roster, and will make offers to correct it if not. You can view the status in the 'position distribution' panel.
This feature has only been deployed to the beta league (MFN-1) and is still very much in testing. Feedback at this stage is extremely valuable, so please let me know if you encounter any issues, edge cases, or situations where the requirements don't seem to make sense.
I will investigate your team, warrior. Did anyone else have unexpected depth chart updates? And if so, did you happen to notice whether you had warnings or the depth chart screen?

Checking on your team, warrior, it looks like you were short a player at Center on your roster - currently the position distribution requires 2 centers.
I think one thing that may need to happen is that I'll need to add a larger warning banner if you are short a position or depth chart, obviously the information is not visible enough to let you know that it's going to happen.
Other discussion could be whether or not the minimum required at each position is reasonable.
The only way that could possibly be the case is if it doesn't count other non C O-line in the C position. Even then, I have two C's on the roster, and they should both have been in the depth chart, though likely another O-line was in the C-2 spot.
This clearly needs serious work. So many issues. Why reset the entire chart for one position? Why not do it in a non-stupid way? The obvious solution if I did indeed not have enough C's is to add a C behind what I already had and leave the rest alone, why can't that be the solution?
Edit with a correction: I just found that the sim signed a trash C to my roster because I only had one. My backup C's were currently listed at other positions, and apparently that is what triggered this whole mess, which is absolutely unacceptable BS.
Any chance of rolling back and replaying that first preseason game after this mess is fixed?

Unfortunately I can't roll it back, but if you all want I can roll back to pre-season week 1 and create a new set of games so that the games are replayed. I'll also be happy to fix any cap issues that this caused.
I'm going to make adjustments as well between each sim to deal with these issues. The first I'm going to change is to have the roster governance consider the position change matrix instead of the more course per-position group it's doing now.

I would love the games to be replayed. The sim made several minor transactions for me, but nothing that requires any resetting or causes any cap issues. Can we confirm going forward that players will count within position group? (for instance: RG in C spot counts towards C's, WLB in MLB spot counts towards MLB's, etc...)

I'm right now updating the logic to be less restrictive and based on the position change matrix for the league. So far it's going well. If I don't get it fixed before the next game sim I'll delay it.
Re-simming the pre-season week 1 would just add additional games - so you'll have two of each game in the schedule that week. It won't remove the existing games. But it does give an extra preseason game. Any thoughts from everyone else on that?

I don't want to go forward with that if it's going to potentially cause other problems or just rack up the always ridiculous preseason injuries. Either way, I'm still down a game on experience and conditioning for many of my key young guys, we might as well just leave it as it is and go forward from here if there's no real fix. Please be sure to announce changes and carefully explain them ahead of them going into effect. Even with your after the fact announcement of the change, I still would not have had two C's in my depth chart because you weren't clear enough about what was expected at the time.
Edit: After reading back through, this may have been sufficient for me to catch and correct: "You can view the status in the 'position distribution' panel."

Is the AI going to sign players instead of using my roster to fix these issues? I just checked after reading this post and it looks like a TE was signed to be a long snapper in Cincinnati during the training camp sim. I likely would have cut the DB anyways so I’m not upset at losing him but why is the AI going to cut and sign instead of just governing the depth chart ie use the players already on the roster like it currently does when it has to reorder the depth chart.
I had six players with higher long snapping scores and seven who rated higher at the long snapping position above the player who was signed so I feel like signing a player just to put them in at long snapping can’t be correct
