I didn't even realize until just now that I called two plays on defense a total of 44 times in that game. And still won. Must have been a lot of weird dice rolls. I just clicked through the "View Plays" buttons in gameplanning and it looks like there are a lot of plays with the same percentage chance of being called. Hmm.
I agree the penalty for play overuse should be more severe, but...
The problem with it being based solely on a single play is that for the most part it would not have negatively impacted my team this season.
There are enough blitz plays in most playbooks that you can call nothing else and still not get hit with the overuse penalty very often.
For example, prior to this last game the most "overused" play by me was called only 5.9 times per game, with the #2 play being called only 4.8 times per game. It drops off sharply after that. So, you can see that I was able to call 100% blitz plays all season while rarely ever getting hit with the overuse penalty.
