Really enjoy these stats, thank you for updating them weekly RLWJR.

These stats kinda give more of an impression of who is the best offensive and defensive team.
And im especially glad to see my Rookie quarterback to have the 3rd best success rate as a quarterback (look out MFN lol)

yes these stats are great.

I'd like to point this out though, My QB is 2nd in both PCT AND Rating. My QB is 17th in strike rate. look at the differences in these 3 stats. which QB would you hire? PCT and rating would be my way to go for sure. The game is about using 4 downs to move 10 yards not 1.

As stated first I appreciate the work that goes into these stats but i feel they have flaws in realising what is actually happening.

First off, I'm happy people are enjoying the extra stats. I've always been a garage mathematician, and it's cool to see others interested in the numbers like I am!

Like I said in the thread that I referenced in the original post, Success Rate is a measure of CONSISTENCY . How consistently does your QB throw passes of at least 5 yards on 1st down? At least half the distance to the 1st down marker on 2nd down? Complete passes on 3rd down that result in a fresh set of downs? PCT is just completing the pass. SR for QB is completing the pas AND it being a completion that keeps the ball moving down field. So, it's not a matter of either stat being misleading. It's a matter of understanding what the stat is telling you.

Also, as stated by Brian Burke and then again repeated by me somewhere in the two threads, SR is not very good at showing the value of players in a high risk/high reward offensive system. If your QB is throwing the long ball all day, he may only complete 1 in 5, but if that 1 goes for a TD, then all is well. SR is not a measure of points put on the board. It is a measure of how consistently a player puts the team in a position to continue moving the ball.

As far as QB Rating goes, well, personally I'd rather use ANY/A or AY/A to gauge my QBs play. I won't go into why QB Rating is a flawed stat, but you can find an article or two on any football stat website that will explain why is not that informative of a stat.

So, of course, it needs to be taken in context, just like every other stat.

But either way, like SR or not, I enjoy the discussion! And as long as people seem interested, I'll continue to put the stats up. Also, at the end of the season, I will (eventually) put up the Approximate Value #'s for the top 50 players or so. So keep an eye out for that at the end of the season!

In addition, I just took a look at Deforge's numbers, and this is my take on why he isn't rated higher in SR. The average loss per sack of the QB's with at least 100 ATT is 5.6 yards....... Deforge loses 7.6 per sack. The average number of sacks per QB on that list is 18.5. Deforge has been sacked 22 times. On the surface, that seems like minuscule differences, but only a 3% difference in SR drops Deforge from 7th on the list to 17th. I'm not positive, but I think it's the sacks that are holding him back, as far as ranking in SR is concerned.

I guess what I'm trying to say is you should just trade him to Jax for like two 5th round picks of the years of your choice....... LOL!
