On this play the wr makes the catch and there is a hold. I am assuming it happened after the catch , but I am not sure,

Ifmit were a hold after the catch......It look s like the ten yard penalty was applied , but the first down was not given to the offense . Does it work that way?

2nd and 11 plus 15( for the rec)- 10 (for the hold)= 2ND and 6.....for some reason I think it would be first down and twenty to go

Or was it just a hold(before the catch)....2nd and 16?

The hold was by a downfield blocker, it did handle the field position logic correctly.

That's what I thought , but I had to ask as it was the oline men who committed the hold.


I know it's sounds corny but perhaps a yellow flag could be thrown at the time of the penalty . Like in the corner somewhere a flag pops up at the time of the infraction . .......as if it is happening in real time.

Instead of waiting to read it in he play by play. And then trying to figure out why or when the penalty occured. Just a suggestion to add to the list, but thanks again for keeping my heaD in the game with your quick response .

Or even just different verbage for penalties to differentiate the small differences that happen.
