This is not a bad idea.
But I think it would need to fairly detailed so players aren't locked into their sole positions. Such as a RB not being able to play WR or DB as a rare few are capable of doing. So maybe lock em to the positions they are capable of playing on their card.
Which leads us to cleaning up the positions they can play. I have multiple players that can play every position or almost every position on offense and defense. Not realistic. A QB playing RB or WR or even DB could be possible. Highly unlikely he's going to be playing O-line anytime soon.
Another thing you'd have to lock is the over-ride section. Cause that would be your work around. But I do like this idea overall.
more or less it is the fact sure people do have players out of position because mainly i would assume that those players have those positions on their card.
what i would like to see happen with this idea is where people who are starting a RB at QB , QB at Punter , LT/RG at kicker , Defense players playing offense , offense players playing defense , etc. when chances are those instances those players dont have the position on their player card are playing them to where you could say they are tanking and doing it in such a obivois way it is ridiclous because it hurts the game .
i will show you a example of what i am saying

Helps when your opponent benches their best players across the board and starts OL in their place.
from this thread = thread =
https://mfn81.myfootballnow.com/forums/1/202?page=1#341basically they put all OL players at every position and had them starting that game
what is upsetting about it is this was a divisional round game and Baltimore was 12-4 record awhile Los Angeles was 12-4 which was the 2nd best record for AFC (Baltimore , Cincinnati and Los Angeles had the same record only behind 16-0 Cleveland)
Baltimore won then they had to face Cleveland in the AFC title which they lost 41-10 to Cleveland .
So maybe if LA plays that game straight up and wins it then they face Cleveland and maybe they beat them
though LA played Cleveland earlier in the season and lost 40-13 so it kinda of was like they realized they can beat them so they TANKED it so they wouldnt have to face them
