So? How was it?

We traded our 1st to IND and will have their 1st next year. We got a 6th round pick for it this year as well, but that's likely just going to be a bench warmer unless we get lucky on the progress stick.

2nd rounder DE Gino Halpin will not start, but will probably make the 2nd string from day 1. 3rd rounder FS Martin Johnson is in the same boat. Our 4th rounder MLB Hugh Huffman doesn't look as intimidating as his name sounds, has a little bit of potential if he'll rise to it.

Been fun to actually have a draft, as players were drafted I was putting them into the depth chart - and was surprised at how helpful that is to see it as you get the players and see what the holes are.

We are very happy here in Philly. We were looking to upgrade our CB and FS positions, and in one pick, we were able to do both. We drafted SS Joseph Epstein, and moved him to FS, where he will start for us and upgrade the FS position. We took former starter Robert Parisien, and moved him to CB, where he will be our nickel CB. We also moved former backup SS Carlos Pecor to CB, where he will be starting. So our secondary went from suspect to solid. We'll have Pecor and Coleman starting at CB, with Parisien and Bell as the nickel and dime. We'll have star SS Andrew Eddy at SS and rookie Epstein at FS. Very solid secondary.

In the second, we are able to get RT Max Brass, who immediately becomes our starter and allows us to upgrade our RG position as well, by moving David Redwine to RG, which upgrades that position as well.

So far, great draft... we are drafting late at 27th position. We get 2 starters at positions of need, and upgrade our depth in 3 other areas because of the picks. Very happy.

At 3.27, we pick up RB Joan Depriest. Depriest upgrades our depth at RB, and will get a try at returns in preseason.

At 4.27, we get MLB Timothy Jackson, who will upgrade our MLB depth. I don't expect Jackson to get much playing time, but I hope he will play some good special teams.

When I came here this year, I was handed a very good team. So I didn't have a lot of needs. I think that my 5th, 6th, and 7th picks aren't likely to make the team at all. I wish I had the option not to sign them...

Starting with the 5th round the rookies don't have bonuses, so you will be able to cut them without penalty.

Good draft so far. Took a QB with good potential in the 1st that should prove to be a solid starter unless he flames out somehow. Great DT in the 2nd. 3rd and 4th had to work the secondary with a FS &SS that should convert over to CB's I think. (not many good CB's in this draft).

5th plus is going to have a hard time making the team as others have noted. Seems like my 4th round pick is making over $1M/year...is that a little much?

Anyone know if there is the whole scout error / masking / boom-bust thing build in here?

There is no scout error or masking - the boom-bust effect is going to be there still, though, because until the current meets the potential the potential continues to have the ability to move significantly. The further the current is from the future, the greater the probability that the future will move, and it could go up or down.

As for our draft...we got some excellent quality in the first with CB Lemaster who looks like he's going to start the season as our 4th although he might get a tryout at FS as well.

Our 2nd rounder DT Schneider was a great value at the end of the round and looks to be a starter if we end up trading DT Morales (78/98) to save some cap space.

RB Oliphant gives us the best 3rd string RB in the game and bottomless depth at the position.

I overestimated the value of latter round picks. Looks like I gave up three solid players for nothing
